Medical Assistant Manassas, Virginia Pay From: $19 per hour MUST: Experienced Medical Assistant 1 plus years of professional experience as a Medical Assistant Must have EMR experience Must have experience taking patients vitals Must have strong verbal and written communication skills Must be able to work in a fast pace multi-physician practice Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds Experience in Orthopedics, Physical Therapy, Family Medicine, Urgent Care, and/or ER is a plus Able to speak Spanish and English is highly preferred Casting/ Splinting Experience is highly preferred DUTIES: The Medical Assistant will be responsible for; but not limited to the following: Remove sutures, staples, and bone pins Change dressing and care for wounds Performs general patient care responsibilities including checking schedules and organizing patient flow: recording patient blood pressure, height, weight; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking, collecting specimens, phlebotomy, assisting physicians/nurses; preparing patient for examination and treatment; relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls and providing pertinent information. Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: sending/receiving patient medical records: obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms and requisitions as needed Organizes medical records, including lab results, progress notes, etc. to ensure provider has all of the necessary information available during the patient's encounter Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned which may include: setting up instruments and equipment according to protocol; cleaning exam /procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits; ordering, sorting, storing supplies; restocking exam / procedures rooms Adheres to and employs appropriate sterile techniques and universal precautions guidelines Utilizes information to continuously improve patient care and practice to enhance outcomes Reports patient safety issues to the practice manager in a timely manner Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinic services Participates actively in quality improvement initiatives Communicates/collaborates with physicians and staff to provide coordinated, safe and compassionate care for patients Reports consistently patient data in a concise and thorough manner Seeks to improve the effectiveness of communication and interactions with others Communicates problems relating to patients and / or staff with practice manager quickly Scans documents into the electronic medical record as directed.
