Position location: Houston, TX


Travel: Up to 25% (National)


We're looking for an experienced and analytical Senior Planner, Logistics to lead the daily execution and long-term planning of logistics operations across a nationwide distribution network. This role is responsible for transportation planning, carrier management, route optimization, and regulatory compliance, while partnering closely with Dispatch, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Pricing teams to improve delivery performance, reduce costs, and support margin optimization.


This position does not have direct reports but carries significant influence across dispatch and operations teams, requiring strong collaboration and the ability to drive alignment in a fast-paced, operational environment.


Key Responsibilities




  • Plan, schedule, and optimize transportation routes and delivery schedules



  • Manage carrier relationships, including performance management and contract negotiation



  • Analyze transportation, fuel, and logistics data to identify trends, risks, and cost-saving opportunities



  • Partner with Supply and Pricing teams to support sourcing strategies and margin optimization



  • Ensure compliance with all transportation, safety, and regulatory requirements



  • Collaborate with Dispatch, Operations, Supply Chain, and Procurement teams to improve on-time delivery and service levels



  • Develop, monitor, and report KPIs, including cost per delivery, carrier performance, route efficiency, and on-time performance



  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across logistics and transportation operations



  • Influence stakeholders and drive alignment without direct authority




Qualifications & Experience


Required




  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field



  • 5+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain planning



  • Experience using SAP in logistics or transportation environments



  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills



  • Ability to work independently and make data-driven recommendations




Preferred




  • APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP, or equivalent)



  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and route optimization tools



  • Familiarity with fuel distribution, regulated transportation, or time-sensitive delivery environments
