Buyer I or Buyer II

Our Buyers are responsible for the purchasing of products and component parts for use in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and sales to our end customers. Items will be purchased from overseas and domestic suppliers.

Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships with suppliers that secure the best price, service, quality and delivery options on all potential purchases
  • Set contract terms and conditions and awarding contracts to specific vendors
  • Manage supplier requested changes, internal design changes and changes for cost savings
  • Provide technical expertise of steel commodities, related steel products and/or other commodities as assigned related to overall spend and negotiation
  • Quote new items within the commodity group
  • Create POs as needed
  • Ensure suppliers are performing at an acceptable level
  • Oversee the process of acquiring goods and services by asking for tenders, consult with suppliers and review price quotations
  • Oversee projects impacting Purchasing tasks and functions
  • Resolve purchasing supply chain issues.
  • Identify and communicate changes /shifts in the market which could impact lead times, costs, availability, quality, etc.
  • Advise production scheduler, sales and shipping/receiving manager of delivery dates and any changes
  • Reconcile missing or damaged product where applicable
  • Supply required components to overseas vendors if specified components are not available in source country
  • Coordinate status with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, etc.
  • Execute reporting surrounding purchasing execution related to budgetary requirements
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities as needed.
  • Provide training to other purchasing resources as needed.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management
  • Work Experience: 5-7 years of experience in related field with International Business desired
  • Computer Skills: MAPICS and MRP experience
  • ASCM: CPIM Certification

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

Must be eligible to work for any employer in the United States.
