Primary Purpose:


Provides technical expertise to evaluate system performance and recommend improvements for electric distribution reliability. Contributes to planning and execution of projects that enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.



Offers specialized technical knowledge to lead and monitor the construction of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.



Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Coordinates field activities for subdivisions, commercial developments, and reliability projects.
  • Conducts risk assessments for construction and maintenance operations.
  • Reviews installation and removal procedures for high-voltage components.
  • Identifies best practices to improve productivity and reduce operating costs.
  • Prepares recommendations for short- and long-term reliability plans.
  • Provides technical input for capital planning and budgeting processes.
  • Advises line crews on complex project requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:



  • Typically requires a 4 year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Typically requires 5 years of related experience.



Licenses and Certifications:



  • A valid California driver's license is required.
  • Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) certification is required.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Construction Management - Oversees construction projects from the beginning planning stages all the way through completion to ensure quality delivery with regards to the project's schedule, cost, quality, safety, scope and function.
  • Maintenance Management - Management of activities such as repair work, servicing, replacing, inspecting and testing.
  • Regulatory Compliance - Ensuring an organization's adherence to laws, regulations, guidelines and specifications relevant to its business processes.
  • Health & Safety Management - Designing, developing and implementing formal management systems that can help manage health and safety.
  • Fault Analysis - The determination of short-circuit currents that result from different fault phenomena, the estimation of fault locations, the identification of under-rated equipment in electric power systems and the sizing of various system components.
  • Corrective/Preventive Maintenance Management - Corrective maintenance involves a series of technical tasks aimed at correcting faults in equipment that needs repair or replacement. Preventive maintenance aims to prevent the occurrence of faults and malfunctions in equipment before they happen.
  • Outage Management - A variety of computer-aided systems to identify outages and provide instant alerts, and return power to the electrical distribution systems/ grid.
  • Troubleshooting - The systematic process of diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, or network issues to restore normal operation.
  • Technical Reporting - The creation of detailed and clear reports documenting technical findings, incidents, and resolutions, often including data analysis and recommendations.
