Job Summary

The Workplace Disability Coordinator reports to the Director of Occupational Health and is responsible for ensuring equitable access and support for employees with disabilities in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other applicable federal and state laws. This role serves as the primary point of contact for employees seeking disability-related workplace accommodations and plays a key role in coordinating the interactive accommodation process while promoting an inclusive and accessible work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary contact for employees seeking disability-related workplace accommodations, providing proactive case management, facilitating meetings, and coordinating the interactive process.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote accessibility and support the removal of barriers for employees with disabilities.
  • Partner closely with Human Resources and enterprise stakeholders to manage the disability accommodation request process, including centralized intake submission, process flow design, tracking of requests and decisions, and facilitation of the interactive process.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate periodic accessibility evaluations and assessments of facilities, programs, and services to identify and address barriers to workplace accommodations.
  • Support the identification, recommendation, and implementation of workplace accommodation equipment and assistive technology solutions to ensure ADA compliance and inclusive workplace practices.
  • Provide training to departments, managers, and staff on disability awareness, ADA requirements, the workplace accommodation request process, and the importance of accessibility and accommodations.
  • Develop and maintain tools to track data related to the disability accommodation process; analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for continuous process improvement.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • At least five years of experience in workplace disability management, occupational health program management, or a comparable program.
  • ADA Coordinator Training Certification Program (ACTCP) certification required within six months of hire; ACTCP certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of the ADA and applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in disability accommodations, including implementation within a healthcare work environment.
  • Knowledge of local agencies and organizations that provide services to individuals with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of workplace accommodation program policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Ability to provide sound guidance to managers, supervisors, and HR stakeholders on disability and workplace accommodation matters.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex and regulatory information to stakeholders at all organizational levels and to both small and large groups.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook) for documentation, presentations, and communication.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
