Job Summary

The CRC supervisor will be focused on overseeing/supervising human subject rsearch primarily in the area of cardiovascular research. Experience with clinical studies/trials in cardiovascular science is ideal. In this role, the CRC supervisor will primarily function to oversee clinical study protocols and provide guidance to other study team members (i.e. clinical research coordinators, research associates and trainees) in the Pediatric Heart Center at UCSF. The supervisor will also aid in the organization and conduct of the Pediatric Cardiovascular Research Program along with the PI. This will include creating protocols to streamline requests for study staff, budget allocation for research related activities, and assisting with dissmeination of pediatric heart center research activities through newsletters, seminars and annual events. Flexible work hours may be required for supervision of clinical trial/research activities.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $90,700 - $193,500,100 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Pediatric Heart Center at UCSF is a tertiary, academic program conducting a wide range of research activities to fulfill the academic mission. There is a wide array of research activities within the heart center including multi- and single-center clinical trials, prospective observational studies, translational research and retrospective observational studies utilizing clinical registry data stored within our system. The Cardiovascular Research Program aims to organize, streamline and assist with all clinical and translational research activities, provide a fostering research environment for trainees and junior faculty and provide regular opportunities for dissemination of original research activities that feed into innovative clinical programs.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related areas
  • Working knowledge of clinical or laboratory research, clinical trial recruitment, eligibility, protocol adherence, quality data submission and adverse event reporting
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, prioritize projects and meet the demands of a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. Adaptable to quickly changing priorities
  • Critical thinking skills to evaluate issues and identify a potential solution
  • Clear and concise communicator; good verbal and written communication skills; bot
  • Good interpersonal skills, including but not limited to: problem-solving, teamwork development, leadership, mentorship. Interpersonal skills to effectively motivate others. Works well with others to achieve common goals. Ability to cultivate relationships with multiple stakeholders at various levels of administration
  • Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in word processing and spreadsheet software. Effectively uses campus' clinical information and documentation application programs. Proven ability utilizing clinical trial management systems
  • Knowledge of and experience with pediatric cardiovascular human subjects' research

Preferred Qualifications


  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Clinical Trial Professional certification from a professional society within one year in position
  • Demonstrated skills in employee supervision and HR administration. Demonstrated experience in training others, particularly in the field of research
