Cancer Biology - Oncology Discovery Research

Description:


The Oncology Discovery Research group has an opportunity available for a highly motivated, organized, and skilled Associate Scientist II to develop new methods/techniques and to generate reliable/reproducible data in a timely manner. This position requires versatile technical expertise within in vitro biology, stable cell model generation/characterization, and molecular techniques and will make substantial contributions to oncology drug discovery efforts. The candidate must be willing to work as part of a multidisciplinary research team under the mentorship of a supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

* Independently conduct critical experiments that advance project goals.

* Generate and characterize stable cell models and deploy molecular biology techniques.

* Develop, read, and adapt protocols as needed while maintaining detailed and accurate records of scientific results.

* Interpret results and draw conclusions from multistage experiments, noting significant deviations and designing follow-up experiments to troubleshoot issues.

* Cryopreserve and organize important engineered cell line stocks.

* Competently and independently perform routine and complex tasks, ensuring reliable and consistent results.

* Understand project goals and maintain high proficiency in assigned projects and the broader research program.

* Maintain compliance with all applicable corporate and divisional policies and procedures.

* Adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, and handling of materials and controlled substances.

Basic Qualifications

* MS degree in biology (or related field) or BS degree in biology with 5 years of relevant laboratory experience.

* Extensive experience with mammalian cell culture and solid understanding of cellular biology.

* Extensive experience with designing experiments and performing molecular techniques (e.g. gDNA extraction, PCR, etc.)

* Fluency in general biology lab procedures and aseptic technique.

* Ability to interpret and document results, prepare reports, and present findings to colleagues.

* Ability to conduct and interpret experiments independently and function effectively in a goal-oriented team environment.

* Detail-oriented, highly organized, strong ability to multitask.

Preferred Qualifications

* Background in cancer biology or functional genomic screening technology.

* Experience with next-generation sequencing technologies, including library preparation.

* Experience in collaborative teamwork in a matrix environment.

* Working knowledge of instrumentation and automation.
