THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation is actively looking to fill the position of Clerical Supervisor 2, a vital role that involves overseeing clerical operations and coordinating human resources activities within the county. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will oversee the clerical staff within the county, providing guidance and support for various administrative functions. Your responsibilities will include managing tasks related to personnel matters, payroll processing, leave management-including Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) leave-benefits administration, accident reporting, worker's compensation claims, employee performance evaluations, and travel arrangements.

Additionally, you will act as a Human Resource Liaison for the District, handling all HR-related activities concerning job vacancies and recruitment for both permanent and seasonal roles within the county maintenance office. This will involve scheduling interviews, preparing necessary documentation, verifying candidate qualifications, and coordinating pre-employment drug and alcohol testing. You will also be responsible for organizing appointments for random drug testing and for employees who have been absent for over 30 days.

Furthermore, you will manage the Summer and Winter temporary programs at the county level, assist with the interview process for seasonal and permanent positions, and facilitate the onboarding of new hires while overseeing the separation process for departing personnel. Your role will include processing Employee Performance Action Requests (EPARs) for various employment changes, such as separations, retirements, and reclassifications, and serving as the primary contact for all human resources inquiries, job openings, and related guidance. You will plan, organize, and delegate tasks to your team to align with County and District priorities, ensuring that work is completed accurately and thoroughly. Lastly, you will coordinate the Employee Performance Review (EPR) process, maintaining and preparing EPRs and position descriptions for county employees, while assisting managers and supervisors in keeping these documents up to date.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
  • This position may require travel as needed.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Supervisor 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 3 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
