Overview The Department Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for Con Edison's Enterprise Data & Analytics organization, overseeing the delivery of AI and data programs across the enterprise. This role ensures that business and technology initiatives are executed with discipline, transparency, and measurable results. The Department Manager establishes governance models, delivery frameworks and financial oversight mechanisms that align program outcomes with strategic priorities. The position requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as extensive experience managing complex, multi-stream data and analytics programs. This role plays a key part in advancing Con Edison's goal of becoming a data-driven, AI-enabled utility through effective execution, cross-functional collaboration and consistent delivery excellence.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Lead the Technical Program Management Office (TPMO) to ensure consistent governance, delivery discipline and cross-portfolio alignment across AI and data initiatives
- Establish and maintain enterprise-level Agile delivery standards, governance frameworks, and reporting structures for portfolio performance and accountability
- Direct program planning, execution, and oversight to ensure timely delivery, risk mitigation and adherence to quality and compliance standards
- Manage financial performance for AI and data programs, including budgeting, forecasting, vendor spend and benefit realization tracking
- Oversee resource planning, workload balancing and capacity management across delivery teams to optimize performance
- Coordinate quarterly planning and portfolio synchronization across business, data and technical streams to ensure strategic alignment
- Develop and maintain integrated dashboards and executive reports using tools such as Power BI and Azure DevOps to track progress and outcomes
- Drive vendor and partner alignment with governance standards, performance metrics, and delivery expectations
- Mentor and manage a team of Technical Program Managers, fostering collaboration, accountability and professional development
- Partner with business and technical leaders to ensure program outcomes deliver tangible business value and advance Con Edisons transformation objectives
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Master's Degree and a minimum of 7 years full-time relevant work experience or
- Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 9 years full-time relevant work experience.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Management Information Systems, Information Systems, related business or technology aligned field and a minimum of 7 years of full-time relevant work experience or
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Management Information Systems, Information Systems, related business or technology aligned field and a minimum of 9 years full-time relevant work experience.
Relevant Work Experience
- Experience leading enterprise-scale programs and portfolios (data, analytics, digital, or technology transformation), including multi-year roadmaps and cross-stream dependency management, required
- Demonstrated success establishing and operating a PMO/TPMO (governance, cadence, templates, RAID, decision logs, reporting) for complex, cross-functional initiatives, required
- Proven experience managing and building high-performing cross-functional teams, required
- Experience with portfolio management, including intake, prioritization, governance, and resource allocation, required
- Demonstrated stakeholder management experience at executive levels, required
- Experience managing budgets, forecasting, procurement coordination, vendor spending tracking, and variance management for technology programs, required
- Experience with Agile delivery methodologies and frameworks at enterprise scale, required
- Utilities, energy, or other regulated industry experience with strong sensitivity to controls, auditability, and regulatory/executive reporting needs, required
- Ability to translate enterprise strategy into actionable delivery plans, required
- Sufficient technical depth to engage credibly with data engineers, data scientists, and platform teams, required
- Experience coordinating multi-vendor delivery, tracking performance (SLAs/KPIs), managing deliverable acceptance, and ensuring alignment to governance and standards, preferred
- Familiarity with modern data platforms, analytics stacks (C3.ai, Databricks, Google etc.), and AI/ML delivery considerations (platform readiness, data activation, model lifecycle implications), preferred

Additional Physical Demands
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
