Staff Engineer Systems - Lead System Integration Engineer to support the C2BMC program. B
ased at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, collectively monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations globally and regionally to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.
Candidate experience should include the use of DoD test methodologies; infrastructure-related test and analysis planning and execution; test data collection planning and execution; and test data analysis and reporting. The analysis experience should involve characterizing system, software, or component performance using quantitative methods; reporting the characterization to subsequent users; and contributing to a program system engineer's performance assessment. This experience may come from independent efforts and/or participation in test teams. The candidate must possess strong leadership and effective written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated experience briefing customers, leading teams, and engaging with senior program personnel. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment. This position may require occasional travel to CONUS or OCONUS sites.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:
- Responsible for leading a team of system integrators in planning, scheduling, and executing system integration activities in both lab and operational environments
- Support program iteration planning and managing resource allocation across all projects, tasks, and pop-ups
- Manage staffing levels through the Resource Control Board process
- Coordinate, develop, and execute detailed test plans and procedures to evaluate the C2BMC infrastructure and network design implementation in an integrated environment or to evaluate specific capabilities
- Execute a test of network device communication paths and capacity performance, and conduct post-test data analysis and reporting
- Create and track Problem Reports to document issues and assist Developers in investigating and resolving them
- Review and comment on testability issues and obvious design flaws, anticipate data collection points, and coordinate the development of plans for and the conduct of anomaly testing and analysis as required
- This position drives impact across the program through:
- Integrating and troubleshooting both test and operational systems, with issues often at the OS level (Windows/LINUX/UNIX/RHEL)
- Develop and modify scripts to gather data. Perform data analysis of message traffic while working closely with internal and government customers.
- Author detailed test plans/procedures and troubleshooting procedures
- Plan and lead integration tests with external elements and sensors
- Document test results and prepare/brief test status and results for internal and external customers
WHAT THE TEAM REQUIRES:

- Bachelor's Degree inSTEMNetwork Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 12 years of experience; or a Master's degree (preferred) in aSTEM-related field with 10 years of relevant work experience; or PhD in a related discipline with 8 years of relevant work experience
- Applicants must have a current, active DoD 8140 certification atIAT Level II or higher(such asSecurity+ CE, JNCIA, JNCIP, CCNA, CCNP, CySA+, CND, etc.) at the time of application, which is required to start. The candidate is responsible for maintaining their DoD 8140 certification throughout the entire contract period
- Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issuedSecretsecurity clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
- Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs
- Knowledge of messaging architecture (such asService Bus Architecture) and infrastructure components; also, practical understanding of network transport, management, and security hardware and software
- Testing and analysis will occur across various environments and venues, including standalone and integrated testing, in laboratories, at warfighter sites, and possibly during multi-element ground and flight tests
- Must be able to individually conduct tests, collect and analyze data from those tests, and communicate results to test team members, test management, other program teams, and the customer through both presentations and formal test reports.
- Detailed knowledge ofCiscoorJuniper WAN and LANhardware and software, and the ability to install and configure these devices
- Experience troubleshooting infrastructure or network problems, familiarity with DNS, proficiency inWindowsandUnix/Linux, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, experience with network diagramming tools such as Visio, and experience with network monitoring tools such as Wireshark
- Must possess strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills, enabling them to work effectively in a small technical team and to accurately represent test perspectives to C2BMC system architects, software designers, other testers, and test support personnel, the Government customer, and personnel in other MDA programs

WHAT THE TEAM PREFERS:
- Master's Degree in Systems Engineering is highly preferred
- Graduate Certificate: Model-Based Systems Engineering (Ex, Stevens, Caltech, UCSD, USC, GWU, INCOSE cohort, etc.)
- Certification: INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification
- Certification: Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Intermediate (OCSMP - MBI)
- Ability to critically assess network design
- Expertise in network management systems, firewall functions, and software
- Working knowledge of Tactical Data Links
- Skilled in system and network troubleshooting procedures and best practices
- Experience with challenges in systems integration, including COTS integration, capacity analysis, and system architecture design
- Experience with Missile Defense System (MDS) element communication architecture across satellite and terrestrial paths (e.g., Aegis, Patriot, GMD, THAAD, and SBX)
- Candidates should have experience with virtual environments (VMware, vSphere, etc.)
PAY TRANSPARENCY: The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications - skills, education & experience - and the position level.
$153,537.95 - $170,919.61
