FlexStaff is hiring LPN's for our client, who runs a specialized educational setting for children through young adult age groups who have special needs. This position is located in the Westchester, NY region. You will be required to work 3 (12) hour shifts per week and you have the option of working from 7am-7pm or from 8am-8pm between Tuesday- Sunday. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or physician, contributing to the overall well-being and health of students of the school. This role is essential in supporting the healthcare team by performing basic nursing duties, administering medications, monitoring student conditions, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for all students at this school. The LPN must adhere to established policies, procedures, and scope of practice while maintaining a compassionate and professional demeanor. Key Responsibilities:
- Collects student health information, including medical history and current symptoms.
- Performs basic wound care, dressing changes, and other treatments as ordered by the physician or RN.
- Administers prescribed medications orally, topically, subcutaneously, intramuscularly, and rectally, accurately and safely, according to established policies and scope of practice.
- Monitors students for medication side effects and therapeutic responses, reporting any concerns promptly.
- Maintains accurate medication records and documentation.
- Accurately and timely documents all patient care, observations, and interventions in the patient's electronic health record (EHR) or paper chart.
- Communicates effectively with RNs, physicians and families regarding patient status, concerns, and care plans.
- Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment.
- Adheres to infection control policies and procedures, including proper hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Demonstrates compassion, empathy, and respect for students and colleagues.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
- Licensure: Current, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in New York.
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Experience: [e.g., Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred, but new graduates may be considered.]
