- BASIC PURPOSE
The primary function of the Maintenance/ Custodian position to assist The Salvation Army in facilitating its mission through the operation of the divisional headquarters. Maintain the appearance and perform/coordinate the repairs/upkeep and cleanliness of the divisional headquarters. Maintenance B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintenance
- Responsible for the general maintenance of The Salvation Army's divisional headquarters.
- Perform basic property upkeep, including painting, flooring, windows, doors (knobs and locks), and replacing ceiling tiles and lights.
- Use the Upkeep program to log and track repairs in the building. Perform any assigned maintenance tasks given by the supervisor. If a task is outside skill level, recommend best course of action.
- Check with the supervisor periodically during the workday for additional tasks.
- Maintain and safeguard all company tools and equipment.
- Maintain curb appeal at Divisional Headquarters.
- Abide by all local, state, federal, OSHA safety policies.
- Adhere to policies/procedures of The Salvation Army.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Custodian
- Sanitizing work areas.
- Vacuuming all carpeted areas.
- Sweeping and mopping all hard surfaced flooring. Buffing tiled floors.
- Dusting all surfaces including office desks, counters and windowsills.
- Trash collecting for entire building.
- Clean bathrooms including toilets, floors, counters, sinks and mirrors.
- Replenishing bathroom supplies as needed.
- Cleaning glass doors inside and out.
- Keeping inventory of all janitorial supplies.
- Keep janitorial closet clean and organized.
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets for all products in the facility.
- Clean outside fountain area and empty outside trash can(s).
- Program set-up of tables and chairs as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintenance and cleaning of Divisional floater vehicles and assist with picking up and dropping off floater vehicles to the shop or other locations as needed.
- Performing any other work necessary to maintain the appearance, cleanliness and safety of the Divisional Headquarters Building.
- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience in maintenance and repair work
- Minimum of 1-year prior experience in a maintenance, custodian, or janitorial position.
- Must be organized and detail oriented.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision; and
- Good communication skills and ability to comprehend English instructions and follow through with desired requirements
- CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequent lifting of 30 pounds or more.
- Frequent climbing of ladders.
- Good mobility with the ability to climb, crawl, bend and have good dexterity regarding grasping, reaching, and handling.
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
- Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
- Ability to reach overhead.
- Ability to operate telephone.
- Ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs.
- Ability to operate a computer.
- Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
- Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.
