A Staff Industrial Hygienist at Foothills Environmental, a division of SET Environmental is responsible to:
- Duties will include hazardous building materials inspections
- Monitor air contaminants using real time monitoring instruments such as photoionization detectors, combustible gas indicators, toxic gas monitors, etc.
- Collection of air samples for various contaminants using personal air sampling pumps, passive monitoring badges, SUMMA canisters, and other techniques
- Collection of environmental samples such as soil, drinking water, groundwater, surface water, building materials, etc.
- Plan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work
- Work closely with senior-level Project Managers to gain project management experience
- Proposal and report writing, development of sampling plans, data analysis, site remediation, and assistance with project management as well as client maintenance
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene, safety, or related field
- 6-8 years of relevant occupational safety and health/industrial hygiene, or other ecology/environmental experience
- Prior experience performing industrial hygiene (IH) surveys & audits; water sampling, indoor air quality (IAQ) and noise assessments; asbestos-containing building materials (ACBM), lead-based paint (LBP) and mold surveys and investigations; asbestos abatement and fiber release assessments; environmental investigations, conduct environmental sampling of soil and groundwater, EH&S/occupational safety training; and/or medical monitoring program oversight
- Knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
- Proficiency in business writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools. Specific programs include Microsoft Office 365 software suite
- Excellent organization and communication skills, writing skills, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies
- Willing to travel up to 25%, including short duration (2-6 days at a time) overnight trips
- Valid Driver's license and acceptable driving record that meets the company safety and insurance standards
- Ability to participate successfully in the Company's drug and alcohol programs to meet client requirements
- 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER)(Preferred)
- 30-Hour OSHA Construction and General Industry Safety Training (Preferred)
- Current asbestos and/or lead-based paint certifications (Preferred)
- Current methamphetamines consult certification (Preferred)
- Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training (Preferred)
- Previous related work experience in the construction or heavy industry (Preferred)
