Overview
The Pharmacy Technician Trainee position is an entry level pharmacy technician position that combines an online pharmacy training curriculum with congruent pharmacy work experience to prepare the trainee to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE). The trainee will have the opportunity to advance into a Pharmacy Technician 2 position once he/she has successfully passed the PTCE. Under the supervision and direction of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician Trainee will learn a wide range of technical and clerical support functions in both the ambulatory/outpatient and hospital/inpatient pharmacy settings. Assigned responsibilities may include any function necessary to support pharmacy operations and services. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or equivalent preferred CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE IL applicants: License is required. WI applicants: Registration is required. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check. Must be able to follow written/oral instructions. SKILLS AND ABILITIES
WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with conversations among partners/physicians/patients/family/visitors/vendors, phone calls, overhead announcements, and equipment operations. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to feel, finger, handle, or grasp items for fine motor skills; reach with hands and arms, and talk/hear. Must be able to crouch or squat to reach items. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
