Performs maintenance and repair services in more than one craft. Requires apprenticeship training in one craft, seasoned by practical experience and some training, in other craft areas appropriate to the environment. May seek the advice of contractors as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Core Duties for Maintenance

Works from verbal, written instructions, blueprints, and sketches to complete work orders and PM's. Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment and systems for emergency repairs. Applies skills, experience, and general knowledge to a wide range of tasks to adjust, repair, dissemble, replace, and reassemble equipment. Performs preventative maintenance routines and inspections. Utilizes hand tools and common shop machinery Assist Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager in more complex repairs.

Essential Requirements

  • Ability to perform a task requiring continuous/repetitive movement, including grasping, pinching hands, flexing and extending arms
  • Ability to stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12 hour shift
  • Ability to work around animal blood and/or body parts
  • Ability to work in cold areas (Approx. 20-40F)
  • Ability to work in warm areas( over 100F)
  • Ability to work in a wet/humid environment
  • Ability to work with a knife (if trained)
  • Ability to work while wearing a hard hat, hearing/eye protection, and steel-toed safety shoes
  • Can understand and follow oral and written instructions and use a maintenance management program.
  • Can lift heavy objects, which can weigh up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work with sanitation/cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to work with strong odors/smells
  • Can work in a noisy environment
  • Ability to climb, move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways, and platforms
  • Can bend, stoop, and twist repetitively throughout your entire shift
  • Can walk long distances
  • Repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to operate powered industrial trucks, including; scissor lifts, pallet jacks, ect.
  • Ability to work with a variety of chemicals, solvents, and understand/abide by the corresponding material safety data sheet, MSDS
  • Ability to read, write the following; work orders, instructions, daily reports and machine manuals
  • Willing to pass physical to wear respirators or self-contained breathing apparatus
  • Stand and/or work on the following; moving platforms and elevated platforms
  • Ability to receive and relate orders/information using various communication devices

Qualifications

  • Welding experience is preferred
  • Mechanical knowledge is preferred
  • Electrical Knowledge is preferred
  • Must be capable of reading and writing English.
