Salary range:
The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table #5, Scales 0 and 5. The salary range for this position is $140,600-$191,9000. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan- APM-670, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. The UCLA School of Dentistry offers an additional $5,000 in base salary compensation on top of the published salary scales for all clinical faculty. Application Window Open date: December 17, 2025 Next review date: Friday, Jan 30, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Friday, Jan 30, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The UCLA School of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position at the level of Health Sciences Assistant/Associate Professor in the Section of Periodontics. This full-time, clinical track position is available immediately and the search will remain open until the position has been filled. The desired starting date for this position is July 1, 2026. The Periodontics Residency Program at the UCLA School of Dentistry started in 1976 with its first graduating class in 1978. Since its inception, the Program has been well-respected and strong, having graduated 85 residents as of 2021. Nine residents have gone into full-time academic positions and have achieved high administrative titles. Our faculty and residents have received more than 30 awards from a diverse host of Associations and Foundations, including the AAP, AAPF and IADR. Finally, our Periodontics section is also home to the most widely published textbook in Periodontics, the "Newman and Carranza's Clinical Periodontology". Primary responsibilities of the position include being the program director of the post-graduate Periodontics residency program and teaching at the pre-doctoral and post-doctoral levels. In addition, the individual will engage in research/scholarship consistent with their professional goals and program needs, as well as contribute service to the school and profession. An opportunity for one-day intramural private practice will also be available. Applicants must: (1) possess a DMD/DDS degree or equivalent, (2) possess a certificate in Periodontics from an institution accredited by CODA, (3) be board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Periodontology, (4) possess or be eligible to obtain a California dental license and (5) possess or be eligible to obtain a California moderate sedation license. A track record of scholarly activity and outstanding patient care is desirable, as well as demonstration or likely commitment to diversity-related teaching/research/service. Prior experience as a program director is preferred. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Applications will be accepted until the position has been filled.
