Position Summary
The UNM
Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
is eager to put together the
right package for an individual with a passion for adult general psychiatry and
teaching, coupled with an interest in joining a team of talented, caring and
committed faculty members. Applications
are being accepted for an academic faculty psychiatrist suitable for
appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor for a
position as an attending psychiatrist on our Adult General Psychiatry
Division's Outpatient Service, to include the Psychiatric Emergency Service
. The successful candidate can take full
advantage of opportunities available in our vibrant and active academic
community.

As an attending
psychiatrist at the UNM Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, the
person selected will have a voice in developing the department's direction as
well as opportunities for multicultural clinical care and scholarly and
collaborative research activities across the Health Sciences campus. There are many opportunities for professional
development in leadership, administration, and education, including mentoring
and supervision of medical students, residents, fellows, and trainees in
related disciplines.

Qualifications

Minimum
Qualifications:

  • Doctorate
    Degree (MD or equivalent);
  • Board certified
    or board eligible in General Psychiatry;
  • Clinical
    experience - minimum 1 year;
  • Licensable in
    New Mexico;
  • Must be
    eligible to work in the United States.

Preferred
Qualifications:

  • Educational,
    teaching and supervision experience with residents, fellows and medical
    students;
  • Clinical
    leadership experience in an academic setting.
  • A demonstrated
    commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New
    Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global
    communities.
