Summary


The Routing Manager develops, implements, and manages routing strategies for delivery, merchandising, and sales resources. This role leads optimization projects, supports the Routing team, and coordinates with Sales and Operations leadership to achieve key business objectives. The manager drives continuous improvement, promotes a safe and positive work environment, and ensures compliance with company policies and state regulations. The position requires strong industry experience, technical skills, and leadership capabilities.


Primary Responsibilities



  • Strategy & Process Development: Oversee and improve departmental processes and programs, ensuring responsibilities are clearly defined.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team; manage performance and hiring for Sr. Router Analysts, Router Analysts, Router Specialists, and Routing Technicians.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Manage departmental budget, labor, and expenses; direct resource utilization for delivery budgets.
  • Communication: Keep the team informed of plans, actions, and developments; present initiatives and report progress to stakeholders.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to all safety, compliance policies, and state liquor laws.
  • Opportunity Identification: Evaluate routing opportunities in Delivery, Sales, and Merchandising; use systems to model scenarios for improved efficiency and customer service.
  • Project Leadership: Lead projects using Lean methodology and project management tools; coordinate with relevant stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement: Use data analytics to identify improvement opportunities, develop action plans, and measure business goals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with Sales, Delivery, Warehouse, Customer Service, IT, and other departments.
  • Other Duties: Complete additional tasks or projects assigned.

People Management


The position manages the Sr. Router Analysts, Router Analysts and Router Specialists an Routing Technicians and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of all employees within those functions.


Work Environment and Physical Demands



  • Primarily office-based, with occasional outdoor work.
  • Physical requirements: lift/carry/push/pull up to 35 lbs, bend/stoop/crouch/squat, use arms/wrists/hands/grasp, regular talking and hearing.



Expected Hours of Work


This is a full-time position, days and hours of work vary and may include weekends. Travel is primarily local, with occasional out-of-area and overnight travel (not expected to exceed 25%).

Required Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent management work experience .
  • Maintain valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience in Routing, Project Management, and optimization strategies.
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.


Preferred Education and Experience



  • 5-10 years operations management experience.
  • Lean Execution Experience.
  • Experience with ERP and distribution systems, beverage and direct-store-delivery, and routing systems (VIP Beverage system Biz Stride, Roadnet Transportation Suite RTS a plus).
  • Lean Methodology (Yellow belt or higher required).


Compensation



  • Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and specific location.
  • Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan. Employees are also eligible for 80 hours of vacation every year and 7-8 days of paid holidays throughout the calendar year (depending on location).
  • Hired applicants may be eligible for incentives/bonuses/annual bonuses.
