The University Tower Endoscopy Suite provides direct patient care for patients undergoing elective, urgent and emergent endoscopic and related procedures in collaboration with licensed medical staff. This job requires technical skills but also patient care skills, knowledge of physical anatomy, effective communication, and collaboration as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to, maintenance of all equipment and supplies related to procedures performed. Assisting medical staff pre-intra-and post procedure with various duties including collecting, and preserving specimens and proper disposition of any specimens, and positioning patients. Responsible for cleaning and high-level disinfection of endoscopes and instruments received by all units within the Division of Perioperative Services, has the ability to identify when equipment needs repair, preparing equipment to be sent to central processing, maintaining electronic equipment, and coordinating repair of the equipment with the proper department or company. Other duties include maintaining accurate logbooks, restocking rooms, and checking supplies are available.
This position includes night, weekend, and holiday call. Responsible for assisting with training of GI Technicians Level 1 and Level 2. This position is solely responsible for ensuring that all procedural equipment and supplies are present, clean, in working order and to assist nursing staff in the setting up and breaking down of procedure rooms to support patient care. Functions include high level disinfection of endoscopes and instruments, preparing equipment to be sent to central processing, maintaining electronic equipment used with endoscopes and coordinating its repair with Clinical Engineering, ordering, and stocking supplies, performing trouble shooting and inventory of equipment. Other duties include maintaining accurate logbooks for HLD process/procedures and culturing of endoscopy equipment. This position includes weekend/holiday on-call.
The service areas include, but not limited to, the GI Adult and Pediatric Endoscopy, Interventional Pulmonary, Operating Room, and off unit care locations such as but not limited to ICU, SICU, MSICU, CTICU, Radiology, IR, Burn Unit, Transfer Unit, Children surgery, Operating Room, 48x O.R., Emergency Department, or other locations.

- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
- 1+ years of demonstrated work experience in a role of GI Technician.
- Achieves SGNA GI Associates certification program within one year title classification designation
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

- KSA to manually wash/clean flexible endoscopes per manufacture instruction for use
- KSA to High Level Disinfect (HLD) flexible endoscopes per manufacture instruction for use
- Demonstrate knowledge of SGNA and AGA recommended practices
