Title: Machinist Technician - Equipment Rebuild Machine Shop
Location: Independence, MO
Salary: $71,00 -$84,000 depending on experience
Schedule: 9/80 Schedule (May require some overtime and weekend work)
Focus: The Machinist Technician in the Equipment Rebuild Shop is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and rebuilding of machinery and components. This role requires strong technical skills and the ability to work with various machine shop equipment, as well as the ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform precision work.
Machinist Technician Job Functions:
- Operate various machine shop equipment, including manual mills, lathes, and other tools.
- Proficient in precision measuring with micrometers and calipers.
- Read and understand blueprints and military specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, belts, checking fluid levels, and replacing filters.
- Diagnose mechanical problems, referencing blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, and work effectively without supervision while instructing others, if needed.
Machinist Technician Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of recent Machining / Tool & Die experience.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and trade type tools to perform repairs and maintenance on equipment.
- Communication and documentation skills and the ability to work closely with engineering staff.
- Computer skills relevant to engineering work and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work standing up entire work shift, lifting up to 35 lbs., and working with energetic materials.
Location-Specific Requirements:
- Must possess a Valid US driver's license.
- This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
- This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
- This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
