Position Summary

The position reports to the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) with matrixed reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), broader executive team and MemorialCare Shared Services executive colleagues as well. Within that context, directs, controls and is accountable for assigned LBMC Service Lines and programs (Joint Replacement Center, Spine Program, Neurosurgery and [select] Neurology services) within the MemorialCare Orthopedic and Spine Institute [MOSI] and MemorialCare Neuroscience Institute (MNI) in collaboration with their physician and nursing leadership triad partners across the integrated and matrixed service line model. Develops long and short-term business strategies and oversees operational implementation. Manages the design, structure, development and planning issues within scope of direction. Responsible for leadership of assigned service line strategies, identification and implementation of program / physician / business development initiatives and directing select business and operational functions as determined by COO/CSO.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

Provides leadership in collaboration with executive team, physician and nursing triad partners to plan, evaluate, develop, and implement patient care programs, services, practice models, capital and other resource needs, expected operating revenues and expenses, allocation of space and organization of program personnel and other operational components.

Designs, implements and monitors infrastructure, systems, processes and standards to achieve desired outcomes in collaboration with medical directors, nursing and other leadership, department chairs and medical staff.

Provides fiscal and business planning that promotes revenue enhancements and cost efficiency. Develops, implements and monitors operating and capital budgets.

Develops strategic and long-range plans, within the context and framework of the overarching MHS / LBMC strategic plans and in collaboration with system service line leaders, for the effective implementation and operation of specific patient care programs and capabilities and associated activities.

Facilitates the efforts towards achieving payer / employer / industry designations and initiatives such as center of excellence, center of distinction, bundled payment models, etc.

Directs recruitment, training and evaluation of personnel in collaboration with hospital.

Provides leadership in collaboration with physician and nursing triad partners to support

continuous improvement efforts. Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships.

Supports clinical processes that assure patient safety.

Proactively evaluates, recommends and secures technologies that advance Institute and program patient care / outcomes, efficiency and consumer centricity.

Supports regulatory compliance for all areas of responsibility. Monitors, communicates, and works to improve patient, physician and staff satisfaction.

In alignment with established strategic initiatives creates effective outreach programs, in partnership with business development, marketing, contracting and operations, to meet the needs of patients in primary, secondary and tertiary market areas.

Implements physician alignment strategies including evaluation and adoption of new alignment models. Participates and collaborates with physician recruitment initiatives.

Responsible for special projects as assigned related to service line / program / center space planning and physician administrative space.

Responsible for maintaining and growing the profitability of the service line area(s).

Positions reporting to this role include the Joint Replacement and Spine Program Coordinator(s) as well as Physician Assistants (PAs) exclusively embedded within the MOSI and NSI (MNI) programs / centers. Clinical oversight for these roles will fall under their respective Spine or Ortho/Joint Replacement Medical Director with dotted line / matrix reporting to the VP of Perioperative Services.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications.
