Overall Purpose:

The Sr Product Owner II of AI and Automation is highly skilled and experienced to lead the application and delivery of AI and automation to highvalue problems across customer, grid operations, and corporate functions. As a individual contributor leader, this role will convert business outcomes into a meaningful multirelease roadmap, own the backlog, and focus on capabilities that create measurable value-meeting our standards for architecture, data governance, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.



Location: Hybrid to downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania



Job Responsibilities:

Product Vision & Strategy



  • Own and socialize a joint CX + Grid Ops vision and multirelease roadmap; synthesize demand from MyCI campaigns, BSAs, AI Review Committee, and business leaders into a value/risk/feasibilitybased priority stack.
  • Run discovery on use cases with clear guardrails and humanintheloop controls.
  • Serve as a product ambassador and proactively champion new delivery opportunities, collaborating with technical leads and business stakeholders.



Backlog Management:



  • Own and prioritize the product backlog to maximize value delivery including translating outcomes into epics/features/stories with acceptance criteria.
  • Select the right approach per use case (with stakeholder input)-native application AI, RPA/Power Automate, third party and document rationale and decisions.



Governance, Risk and Compliance:



  • Prepare and shepherd use cases through the AI Review Committee with complete artifacts (business value, data classification, evaluation plan, oversight, and derisking measures).
  • Operate within the AI RACI; partner with Data Governance, Cybersecurity, Compliance, Legal and Innovation to embed controls, monitoring, and auditability into releases.
  • Ensure external vendors and models meet our AI contractual addendum (no training on company data without written consent; bias testing; privacy and transparency).
  • Anticipate operational and regulatory impacts (e.g., NERC CIP, PII etc) and design products accordingly.



Value Realization and Change



  • Define KPIs & evaluation per use case (e.g., costtoserve, FCR, ASA, abandon rate, forecast accuracy, field crew productivity; precision/recall; drift); run controlled pilots (in collaboration with stakeholders) and track benefits postrelease.
  • Drive execution and delivery of out-of-the-box solutions in collaboration with business owners, analysts and technology
  • Drive adoption via training, communications, and partnership with OCM and Training



Education/Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Product Management, Computer Science or other business or technical discipline, or the equivalent in work experience.
  • Ten (10+) or more years of relevant/direct industry experience required, with minimum of three (3) years of Product or Program Management experience in IT and/or Business Operations preferred.
  • Relevant industry credentials, such as Certified Product Owner (CPO) or AI/ML related strongly preferred.



Skills and Abilities Utilized in this Role Include:



  • Experience with Cloud technologies like Azure, AWS, etc.
  • Technical experience in areas in or adjacent to APIs, Low Code, Automation, and other related technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to span Customer and Grid Ops (T&D/Storm/Field), corporate function domains; strong facilitation with SMEs and change champions.
  • Working knowledge of DLC platforms: Office 365 Co-pilot, Snowflake/Azure Data Lake/Azure Data Factory/Fivetran, Azure Integration Platform/Logic Apps, Power BI, Power Automate/RPA.
  • Familiarity with AI governance (AI Review Committee/AI RACI), cyber & supplychain controls for AI vendors, and NERC CIP considerations.
  • Agile delivery skills: writing epics/stories, acceptance criteria, grooming, release planning, demos.
  • Brings a continuous improvement lens to products and programs by incorporating feedback and best practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams and drive results.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to create and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to drive outcomes and create alignment around a vision or course of action.
  • Adaptability and Learning Agility: Ability to learn and adapt to rapidly changing business needs, processes, standards, and tools.
  • Product Management: Strong product management skills, including an ability to communicate and inspire product vision, strategy, and roadmap, apply unique business insights, prioritize work to be completed, and make sound decisions aligned to business goals.
  • Agile Tools: Knowledge of tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, etc.
  • Agile Methodologies: Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Scrum.



What success looks like (KPIs):



  • Value: hard savings/avoidance, costtoserve reduction, collections uplift; storm MTTR contributions and improved readiness indicators.
  • Adoption: active users, policycompliant usage, training completion, CSAT/agent NPS.
  • Quality & risk: evaluation thresholds (accuracy/precision/recall), bias checks, drift stability, incident rates; % of use cases approved by AI Review Committee and compliant vendor attestations.



Scope:

In addition to daily deliverables, outputs and reporting, also considers and recommends longer term best practices to improve processes based on experience. Accountable for managing ones own time and work flow and may also lead functional project teams. Works independently, requiring guidance in only the most complex situations. Has well established capabilities, acts as a resource to less experienced staff on complex issues.



Decision Impact:

Problems and issues faced are vague and require reasoning to identify root cause. Draws on significant past experience to perform role. Accountable for direct level of reasoning and decision making.



Hybrid Work:

Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.



Storm Roles:

All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset. Please be sure to discuss storm roles with the hiring manager for this position, as duties can vary across the Company. Examples of storm roles could include but aren't limited to duties such as: working with operations for service center support or with the communications, customer service, or government affairs teams to respond to public and customer requests for information, etc.



Data Governance:

Utilize data to make business decisions as appropriate for the position, support data stewardship activities and partner with IT on underlying data needs.
