Optum is seeking a Behavioral Health Care Advocate to support members in Northeast Indiana. Care advocates work with members with a goal of engaging the consumer in the treatment process, decreasing their reliance on higher levels of care, helping them to access appropriate community services, and assisting them in improving community tenure. This hybrid position involves remote work with occasional in-person visits to facilities or homes.

***Up to 25% of the week is spent in the community, meeting with members in hospitals, facilities, or homes. The remainder of the week is spent working remotely at home. Typical hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. Licensure and residency in the State of Virginia is required. Preferred locations include Bristol, Wise, Marion, Abingdon, Wytheville, and surrounding areas. Candidates residing in areas near Roanoke, Salem, and Bedford may be considered if business needs allow.***

What You'll Do:



  • Provide behavioral health care and SUD coordination and support
  • Help members navigate treatment options and transitions between care settings
  • Collaborate with providers and community partners


What You'll Need:



  • Master's degree in behavioral health or Ph.D
  • Active independent VA license (LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LP)
  • 1+ years of experience in behavioral health
  • VA residency, preferred locations include: Bristol, Wise, Marion, Abingdon, Wytheville, and surrounding areas


Preferred Experience:



  • Working with dual diagnosis (SUD and behavioral health)
  • Medicaid populations and/or community mental health
  • Experience with benefit coordination
  • Experience working with local and state community resources in Virginia
