Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and professional Respiratory Therapist to join our team on a Per Diem basis. This role does not guarantee hours and will be scheduled as needed. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary certifications and experience to deliver exceptional respiratory care to our patients.


Qualifications

  • BLS, PALS, ACLS (AHA/RQI certifications specifically required)
  • Preferred: Previous acute care experience
  • Required: NYS Licensure


Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the successful candidate will:



  • Render highly professional and technical care to patients requiring specialized respiratory care interventions.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team in the delivery of healthcare services to a specific patient population.
  • Assess patient needs, develop/contribute to plan of care, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory regimens in accordance with the patient's needs.
  • Document care in the medical record following hospital, nursing, and Respiratory Care policies/procedures and professional standards.
  • Effectively communicate fundamental patient/family information to healthcare team members and solicit feedback from other members of the healthcare team.
  • Identify and consider physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and environmental needs to promote dignity and healing.
  • Obtain and analyze physiologic specimens, interpret physiological data, and perform tests and studies of the cardiopulmonary system, documenting and reporting results appropriately.
  • Apply and monitor medical gases and environmental control systems, mechanical ventilator support, airway management, bronchopulmonary hygiene, pharmacological agents related to respiratory care procedures, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, and hemodynamic cardiovascular support.
  • Focus on family and patient education activities to promote knowledge of disease processes, medical therapy, and self-help.
  • Maintain current knowledge and competency in Respiratory Care practice, and participate in the mentoring/orientation of staff.
  • Consider factors related to safety, cost, and impact in planning the delivery of care.
