RN Nurse Manager - FT

This is a full-time, salaried position requiring 40 hours per week with no overtime. The role reports to the Director of Nursing (DON) and Administrative DON. The position supervises CNA Trainees, CNAs, Senior CNAs, LPNs, RNs, and Unit Clerks. A New York State (NYS) License and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are required, along with previous managerial experience.


Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients/residents served within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's/resident's requirements relative to age-specific needs.
  • Ensure effective communication with staff, patients, families, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Establish effective work relationships to lead others towards meeting organizational objectives.
  • Assess departmental needs, develop and implement planned interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of applied interventions.
  • Facilitate project management, work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
  • Familiarity with DOH requirements and computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Meditech is preferred.

  • Assure coordination of care across department lines through systems that promote interdisciplinary collaboration and communication.
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection, and retention of personnel and assure appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and continuing professional development.
  • Ensure nursing care delivered is grounded in the principles of relationship-based care and reflects a patient/family-centered focus.
  • Demonstrate broad-based knowledge of nursing in general and specific knowledge of the chosen area of practice.
  • Apply nursing practice knowledge in daily interactions with patients/residents/families and other healthcare team members, holding staff accountable for the same.


Occupational Exposure

Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, and tissue.


Skills and Experience

  • NYS License and BLS - Required
  • 2 years of experience in managerial roles for Long-Term Care (LTC) - Required
