The Optum Health Networks Training consultant is responsible for supporting the development and execution of education and training programs for provider, provider-facing, clinical, non-clinical, and specialty roles as it relates to the adoption of new digital tools and programs. The Training consultant will work directly with the Education Director, and the Provider Experience leadership to improve the education experience across our business partners. This position will collaborate with the Market based CDO liaisons and training teams, the EMR Workflow team(s), the Provider Portal team, and other applicable departments to ensure the success of our training programs.

Ideal candidates are creative self-starters with experience in business partner project coordination roles, analytics within and across applications/tools, and an understanding of the education development and delivery process. In this role you will need high emotional intelligence to maintain composure and navigate divergent goals and challenging situations. You need solid interpersonal communication skills to build positive relationships, use tact in sensitive situations; listen well to various points of view; relate well to others at all levels.

This position is full time, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

We offer weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of the training will be aligned with your schedule.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of Epic trainers for Indiana and Ohio
  • Train Epic applications for new hires, learners participating in Epic Thrive session, and during bi-annual Epic upgrades
  • Train In-Person and virtual classes
  • Manage the development of the training schedule for the market
  • Oversee and take lead on the team's service ticket completions
  • Support training team in box incoming requests and manage escalation issues to ensure timely responses to requestors
  • Partner with the Optum Insight Principal training team, and implementation team for coordinated efforts supporting the market initiatives
  • Identify, manage, and establish productive relationships and clear lines of communications with relevant business partner stakeholders and decision-makers to engage in applicable project activities (e.g., obtain buy-in, provide needed information, influence others)
  • Support the execution of education development, and delivery (e.g., status updates, reporting, risk management)
  • Leverage and contribute to the applicable knowledge repositories (e.g., Learning Management Systems, SharePoint documentation, MS Teams, analysis tools, go live/project toolkits)
  • Share professional and domain knowledge with peers and colleagues to build overall organization capabilities
  • Identify and recommend ways to improve overall operational performance, based on knowledge of the business (e.g., process improvements, cost reduction opportunities, structural changes)
  • Apply knowledge of change management principles to drive implementation of engagement objectives.
  • Cultivate the client's perception of Optum as a trusted partner and strategic advisor (e.g., build credibility, develop an understanding of their business, leverage other resources within Optum)
  • Coordinate/facilitate communications between the client organizations and internal teams and maintain ongoing contact with partners to identify and address emerging issues/concerns

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED OR equivalent years of experience
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • 5+ years of Epic training experience in a provider practice setting and/or equivalent EHR/provider practice related training experience
  • 5+ years of experience in successfully delivering on operational projects in a matrix environment - demonstrated solid project coordination skills in client facing roles including process mapping, excellent follow-up, meeting facilitation and risk assessment/mitigation
  • Successfully pass Epic Credentialing panel for assigned applications within 60 days of start
  • Expert level experience in Excel (sort, filter, pivot tables, formulas)
  • Advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Teams
  • Work experience facilitating presentations, workshops, or meetings in a structured manner and managing group dynamics
  • Experience in the business side of training and education in a health care environment
  • Ability to work in a high-performing, fast-paced, collaborative environment with limited supervision; must possess a high degree of self-motivation, versatility, and flexibility
  • To be a quick learner, willing to tackle new opportunities and challenges with the capacity to synthesize and articulate complex subject matter so it can be easily understood
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule and travel both locally and non-locally to off-site Training locations as needed
  • Valid Drivers license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems and concepts of instructional design

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $89,900 - $160,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
