Job Title:IT Documentation Specialist Job Description:

Summary

The IT Documentation Specialist is responsible for creating, organizing, maintaining, and updating technical documentation, manuals, policies, and procedures that support IT operations and projects. This role ensures that complex technical information is clearly communicated to both technical and non-technical audiences, maintaining consistency and accuracy across all IT documentation. Additionally, this role will work closely with Information Technology to facilitate information gathering for ongoing audits and exams with internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Translate technical information from subject matter experts (SMEs) into clear, concise, and user-friendly content.

  • Work closely with IT teams (infrastructure, info security, project management, application development, and support) to document systems, applications, and procedures.

  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to produce project-related documentation such as design documents, test plans, and deployment guides

  • Create, edit, and maintain IT documentation, including system manuals, process workflows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), user guides, FAQs, and knowledge base articles

  • Review existing documentation for accuracy, completeness, and readability

  • Implement templates and document control procedures to ensure consistency across all IT materials

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Technical Writing, Computer Science, Communications, or a related field

  • 2-5 years of experience in IT documentation, technical writing, or a related role

  • Experience with IT environments, systems administration, or software development is a plus.

Computer and Software Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong understanding of IT concepts, networks, software, and system operations

  • Proficiency in documentation tools such as Google Workspace(Email and Drive) and Microsoft Office Suite.
    Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously.

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

  • ITIL Foundation Certification Preferred
