Responsibilities

The Newborn Hearing Screener will conduct hearing screens on all applicable patients both inpatient and as outpatient follow-up. While performing hearing screens the Newborn Hearing Screener will follow all Mission Regional Medical Center and State policies and procedures, including but not limited to infection prevention, safety awareness, and quality assurance. They will contribute to a positive work environment and overall team effort. Contacts physician offices, patients and other departments as needed to facilitate patient care. Orders and restocks newborn hearing screen supplies as needed. Accurately enters information and all audiology consults into the hospital Electronic Medical Record system as well as exporting data in a timely manner through TEHDI to the State. Ensures other State reportable tests (PKU, and CCHD) are also compliant. Ensures appropriate billing for hearing screens is completed timely. Is able to assist nursing staff with other (non-patient care) duties as needed.



Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

    High School Diploma Required.
  1. Proficient in English and Spanish.
  2. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  3. One year previous experience.
  4. Experience using computers for documentation.
