Industrial Engineer

General Purpose:

Responsible for increasing productivity through the management of workers, methods of business organization, and technology to solve organizational, production, and related problems efficiently.

Principle Accountabilities:



  • Provides process time estimation to the quote team
  • Simulates process, materials and manufacturing workflow and gives input to process engineer by using REFA, MOST, WITNESS and or adequate tools
  • During NPI coordinates process planning and set up with respect to takt, cycle time and direct labor requirement


  • Reviews result during prototyping and trial runs and gives feedback to NPI and sales team.
  • Work measurement programs and examines work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
  • Examines staff utilization, facility layout, and operational data, such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to define efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
  • Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocation workstations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
  • Confers with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
  • May develop management systems for cost reviews, financial planning, wage and salary administration, and job evaluation.
  • Develops management control systems to aid in financial planning and cost reviews, and design production planning and control systems to coordinate activities and ensure product quality.
  • Designs or improve systems for the physical distribution of goods and services, as well as defining the most efficient plant locations.
  • Manages and supports initiatives to increase throughput, reduce cost and improve performance in constrained areas like Lean, Automation and/or Six Sigma projects.



Skills/abilities

Use of the following tools may be required:



  • Electronic Assembly: color code, component, schematics
  • May require various PCB operations
  • Testing: oscilloscope, cable and harness testing, trouble shooting, component testing, logic analyzer
  • Inspection: bare board, systems, components, cable and harness, microscope, measuring tools
  • Mechanical & Electrical Tools: taps and dies, alignment tools, measuring tools
  • Office skills: telephones, data entry, office software to include, word processing, spreadsheet and presentation package
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rus, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees of organization
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

The base pay range above represents the low and high end of the base compensation range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual base compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, actual experience, and job performance.
