Job Description
ECU Department of Graduate School is currently seeking a Graduate Student Office Assistant to work up to 20 hours per week to support various administrative Graduate School tasks.

This position will provide the student with experience in problem-solving, critical thinking skills, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Students who are comfortable with staying organized and effectively prioritizing tasks will enjoy this position. This student will be trained to use two software systems that are utilized in the graduate school processes including admission, event planning, retention, and website development. Tasks will be primarily in the student support services section working with staff members in this area.
Technical Support Job Responsibilities:

  • Understand and apply institutional requirements set by Graduate Admissions processes and procedures.
  • Assist with communicating with prospective and current students via email, phone, or text.
  • Assist with the development of materials including articles and photographs for newsletters, programs and agendas for events and meetings, and handbooks, manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct internet or library research to assist Graduate School staff with policy review, development, and editing.
  • Create and monitor feedback surveys for meetings and events using Qualtrics software.
  • Create, edit, and update documents using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Conduct campus tours for prospective graduate students.


A campus presence is required daily but there could be the possibility of some work being done remotely or after 5:00 PM. Hours and days will be scheduled around the student's academic schedule.
Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)
The student will be trained in all processes and while experience with university systems is helpful, it is not required. The student should be a quick-learner, willing to demonstrate initiative, be eager to find information when necessary, and willing to learn new systems quickly.
