Are you our Assembly Technician?


This role reports directly to the Production Manager and works onsite at our Atlas Copco-Air Way Systems Grayling, MI facility. This role will be responsible for assembling and testing machinery according to technical specifications. Your duties typically include reading and interpreting blueprints, using hand and power tools to assemble custom machinery, inspecting finished assemblies for quality assurance, and troubleshooting mechanical issues.



Here's how you'll make an impact:



  • Assemble machinery components according to blueprints, schematics, and technical instructions.
  • Align, adjust, and fit parts to ensure proper functionality and adherence to specifications.
  • Inspect components and assemblies for defects and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Perform tests and calibrations to verify machine operation.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment required for assembly tasks.
  • Maintain and clean tools to ensure efficiency and safety.


  • Perform precision marking and labeling on parts using laser engraving machine.
  • Ensure markings comply with technical drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare surfaces and apply black oxide coatings to parts.


  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while handling machinery and tools.
  • Report defects or inconsistencies in components to supervisors or quality assurance teams.



To succeed, you will need

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in an assembly, manufacturing or production environment desired.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Working knowledge of hand tools, ability to read blueprints and follow technical drawings and instructions.
  • Team-oriented and a keen understanding of the importance of following safety protocols.



Note: This position requires the use of personal protective equipment for large portions of the job.
