Position Description
The School of Nursing, located in downtown Atlanta, invites applications for two full-time, non-tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Clinical Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor, or Clinical Associate Professor. These are nine-month appointments with responsibilities that include:

  • Teaching in undergraduate and/or graduate nursing programs
  • Participating in scholarly activities
  • Advising and mentoring students
  • Contributing to school, university, and community service


Rank will be determined based on prior clinical and/or teaching experience.
Required Experience
Candidates for all ranks should demonstrate clinical competence in nursing practice and experience working with diverse patient populations. For the Clinical Instructor rank, candidates should have at least 1 year of clinical nursing experience, and prior teaching experience is preferred but not required. For the Clinical Assistant Professor rank, candidates are expected to have a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience along with prior teaching experience in undergraduate and/or graduate nursing programs. For the Clinical Associate Professor rank, candidates should possess 5 or more years of clinical and teaching experience, a record of scholarly activity, and evidence of leadership in nursing practice or education, including mentorship of students or junior faculty.
Required Education
For the Clinical Instructor rank, candidates must hold a Master's degree in Nursing ( MSN) from an accredited institution; a doctoral degree ( DNP or PhD) is preferred but not required. For the Clinical Assistant Professor rank, a Master's degree in Nursing is required, and a doctoral degree ( DNP or PhD) is strongly preferred. For the Clinical Associate Professor rank, candidates are expected to hold a doctoral degree in Nursing ( DNP or PhD).
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
A doctoral degree (Ph.D., DNP, EdD, or DNS) in Nursing or a related field is preferred, along with prior teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level. Preferred areas of clinical expertise include medical-surgical, psychiatric, obstetrical, and pediatric nursing. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist with current practice experience is also desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Candidates should possess strong teaching and mentorship skills, the ability to engage in scholarly activities, and a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and community engagement. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively in both academic and clinical settings, are essential.
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations, etc
A current Georgia RN license or eligibility for Georgia RN licensure is required.

weekend and/or other campus locations).
