If you are passionate about electric engineering, electric utility operations, and making a difference in the community, we have an exciting opportunity for you! Seeking a dedicated senior engineer to play a vital role in technical engineering services, design, planning, and management of electric utility transmission and distribution projects. This position provides exceptional customer service to utility customers; collaborates with the electric engineering team to enhance electric utility system efficiency and reliability; and ensures compliance with City codes, National Electric Code (NEC), National Electric Safety Code (NESC), and Municipal Electric Utility standard practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and assign duties to engineering staff and consultants for electric distribution and transmission projects.
  • Design and manage electric distribution, 34.5kV transmission, fiber, and communication systems, including cost estimating and service upgrades.
  • Oversee project management from design to construction, ensuring compliance with standards and codes.
  • Conduct or supervise on-site inspections to ensure adherence to specifications and safety standards.
  • Serve as the main contact for customer interactions related to new projects and installations.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (line operations, metering, communications) to support utility operations.
  • Review and comment on engineering and civil plans for development within city jurisdiction.
  • Maintain and update GIS, CAD/CAM, and fiber network systems in coordination with IT.
  • Support utility budgeting, system forecasting, load analysis, and performance optimization.
  • Contribute to the development of engineering standards, procedures, and reliability improvements.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in electric utility operations or a similar environment.
  • Knowledge of NESC, NEC, and applicable standards and codes.
  • Strong multitasking, communication, and judgment skills; capable of working independently.
  • Availability for 24/7 emergency response with a wireless communication device.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical work, including lifting to 48 lbs. in varied conditions.
  • Must pass background check, physical, functional capacity evaluation, and drug screening if selected.Top of Form
