The Project Technician will act independent of direct supervision providing superior service to the department's customers. The project technician will provide specialized services including, but not limited to, conference room set-up, AV equipment set-up, teleconferencing equipment set-up, floor care, carpet care, furniture care, moving, storage, etc.
Has the authority to control the trash flow into the San-I-Pak unit by providing leadership and training to the floor technicians as it relates to segregation of waste. This training will take place during orientation with the focus on DPH regulation 105CMR 480.000. The Medical Waste Technician will maintain a re-training program annually in cooperation with the Sr. Operations Manager.
Authorized to report any and all violations of Medical Center procedure and policy.
Retains the authority to remove or report any safety violation without consulting a supervisor.
Retains the authority to aid and assist where needed if applicable.
The Medical Waste Technician will be required to receive specialized training on the operation and maintenance of the San-I-Pak unit.
The Medical Waste Technician will be familiar with Department of Public Health regulations related to the segregation and accepted methods of disposal of medical waste.
The Medical Waste Technician will train all other Environmental Services staff on the safe handling of medical waste and San-I-Pak operations.
The Medical Waste Technician will troubleshoot maintenance repairs on the San-I-Pak unit in accordance with provided training within his/her capability.
The Project Technician may work with the Conference Room scheduling system to establish needs for set-ups. Conference room set-ups include tables and chairs according to specifications as well as trash removal and terminal cleaning.
The Project Technician may provide AV equipment in conjunction with the Conference Room setup.
The Project Technician will retrieve and setup various components of the Medical Center's AV program. Equipment will be tested to ensure normal working condition during the set-up process. Responsible for ensuring that equipment is returned to storage at the completion of the event.
Equipment malfunction will be brought to the attention of the shift supervisor or operations manager for follow-up.
The Project Technician will be trained in the set-up of teleconferencing equipment. This equipment will be setup when the Medical Center's telephone technicians are unavailable, primarily on the evening shift. Teleconferencing equipment will be broken down and secured in proper storage area. Equipment malfunction will be brought to the attention of the shift supervisor or operations manager for follow-up.
The Project Technician will be proficient in floor care. She/he will possess the ability to burnish and topcoat, scrub and refinish, strip and refinish to ensure a quality result.
The Project Technician will be responsible for selecting appropriate cleaning materials and supplies to provide proper floor and carpet care. Chemicals will be prepared in accordance with procedure.
The project technician will provide preventive cleaning of large equipment including; ride-on scrubber, walk-behind burnisher, sweeper. Will also maintain knowledge of daily maintenance of battery-operated equipment.
The project technician will comply with all departmental and medical center safety procedures.
The Project Technician will be required to perform moves such as movement of beds, mattresses, furniture, storage boxes, etc.
The Project Technician may be called upon the assist the Transport Department with light movement. This may include wheelchair calls, specimen delivery, equipment requests, etc.
The Project Technician will assist with the delivery of clean linen carts to patient care areas as directed by the ES Special Projects Manager.
The Project Technician will assist in the delivery of additional linen needs as requested.
Perform any function that is needed or appropriate either independently or as directed by a Lead, Assistant Supervisor, Supervisor, Manager, or the Director of Environmental Services.
The Medical Waste Technician will sign the prepared Medical Waste Manifests for Medical Waste removal and Sharps removal.
This paperwork will be presented to the Director of Environmental Services for record keeping purposes.
The Medical Waste Technician will retrieve and provide to the Director of Environmental Services records of San-I-Pak operation on a bi-monthly basis.
Shall be accountable for adhering to Department of Public Health guidelines as they relate to medical waste disposal.
Shall be accountable for the cleanliness of his/her area of responsibility.
Shall be accountable for ensuring safety and security of work area, patient confidentiality, and employee confidentiality.
