GENERAL SUMMARY

Analyze loans for credit quality and adherence to bank policy. Act as Examiner-In-Charge of assigned lending unit reviews and prepare comprehensive reports for distribution to management. Assist in the loan sampling process for lending unit reviews and in other departmental functions as necessary.



DIRECT REPORTS



The incumbent has approximately five direct reports.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Collaborate with the Loan Review Manager to ensure timely and effective execution of the Loan Review Plan.
  • Directs Loan Review services performed by internal staff and third party, co-source firms.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the annual Loan Review Plan for comprehensive portfolio reviews to determine asset quality and portfolio management effectiveness, continuous portfolio monitoring, and targeted reviews.
  • Ensures assigned staff have the proficiency required to perform portfolio reviews.
  • Serves as Examiner-In-Charge for assigned lending unit reviews, host kick-off, update, and exit meetings for the respective units to discuss findings, issues and/or concerns.
  • Prepares and drafts Loan Quality Review Reports that communicate findings to Unit Management, Senior Management, and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Ensures the Loan Review team validates the accuracy and timeliness of asset quality risk ratings, accrual status, and portfolio management requirements are met.
  • Ensures that credit review examiners have analyzed and reviewed financial statements, cash flow analysis, third party reporting, industry trends, collateral condition and values, loan structure, and guarantor personal financial statements and tax returns.
  • Ensures loan review examiner workpapers/linesheets are complete, accurate, documented, and provide credit analysis, opinions, and recommendations regarding credit risks.
  • Manages and develops internal staff and supervises the daily activities of the team including, but not limited to, effective delegation of assignments, developing work schedules and providing necessary training. Establishes annual goals, performs performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and interviews candidates for employment.
  • Participates in due diligence reviews for portfolio acquisitions, and mergers.
  • Supports regulatory examinations and internal audit engagements.
  • Provides guidance or mentorship to junior staff.


QUALIFICATIONS


Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or economics strongly preferred.


Experience:



  • Minimum of seven years of commercial lending experience with at least five years in a credit/loan review function, preferably in a commercial banking environment.
  • Three years of department oversight/management with personnel management required.
  • Experience as a bank examiner, or with a consulting/accounting firm is also acceptable.
  • Experience in specialized lending such as asset-based lending (ABL), energy (including oil & gas), shared national credits (SNC). and syndicated lending is a plus.

  • Accountable; ability to make decisions and assume responsibility for those decisions.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Knowledge of the various factors related to commercial and industrial and commercial and residential real estate lending products.
  • Exposure to regulatory requirements, economic factors, and standards applicable to commercial lending, commercial real estate, construction, and residential lending products.
  • Excellent risk analysis skills.
  • Excellent cash flow analysis skills.
  • Ability to manage high-volume workflow.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience using computer-related software applications, (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).


OTHER DETAILS


$140,000.00 - $165,000.00/ year


Pay determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.


This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
