Department: AE Media Solutions

Reporting to: Books Program Director

Overview:

At Advisors Excel, we help financial professionals across the country elevate their brands - and one of the most powerful ways we do that is through storytelling. Our Media Solutions Books Program gives advisors the opportunity to publish high-quality, professionally edited books that share their expertise, build credibility, and connect with clients in a lasting way.

We're looking for a Books Program Writer to join this creative, detail-driven team. In this role, you'll guide financial professionals through the publishing process from first draft to print. If you love words, thrive on precision, and enjoy seeing your work go from digital draft to hardcover reality, this could be the perfect fit.

What you'll do:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients throughout all phases of the publishing process.
  • Provide proactive, high-quality client service - keeping projects on track from production to promotion.
  • Edit and proof manuscripts for grammar, punctuation, consistency, accuracy, and overall flow while maintaining each author's unique tone.
  • Review and format book interiors using Microsoft Word and/or Adobe InDesign, ensuring layouts are publication ready.
  • Partner with compliance reviewers to edit and approve content in line with financial industry standards.
  • Upload finalized books to Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) platform for distribution.
  • Manage project timelines and updates in our project management system.
  • Stay familiar with financial terminology and industry trends to ensure content accuracy.
  • Jump in with flexibility and collaboration - supporting teammates and tackling other publishing-related tasks as needed.

Experience you'll bring:

  • 1-3 years of experience in writing or editing.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines within a project management system.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign (pagination and layout experience is a plus!).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Comfort with new technology and AI tools - and an eagerness to keep learning.
  • Familiarity with Amazon KDP or similar online publishing platforms.

Bonus Points:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Marketing Communications, English, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Workfront, Trello, or Monday.com

What you'll get:

  • Amazing benefits including medical, dental, vision and 401k (with matching options)
  • Generous PTO package from your start date
  • Access to an on-site cafe, gym and primary care
  • Continuous personal and professional development opportunities
  • Recognition for hard work & exemplary performance
  • Employee sponsored events...and more!
