Description

Brown and Caldwell's private sector has an exciting opportunity for a Project Geologist to join our Site Investigation & Remediation Practice. The successful candidate should have experience in supporting and/or managing site investigation and remediation projects.

Detailed Description:

This role will provide a high level of support for ongoing and new projects addressing environmental concerns of private sector projects throughout North America. In addition, this position will support project development (i.e., scopes of work, proposals and project budgeting), strategy development, and promoting a high level of technical competence in our work products. The position also provides the opportunity to manage tasks or projects of varying size and complexity. Job responsibilities are as follows:



  • Support multiple clients as a project or task manager on a variety of site investigation, remediation, and/or water resources projects;
  • Manage multiple projects or tasks in diverse settings and with changing requirements;
  • Analyze data and provide professional advice to your colleagues and clients;
  • Successfully manage and deliver projects or tasks on time, on budget, and with high quality;
  • Utilize internal project management tools and resources;
  • Participate in a fast-paced, highly collaborative team atmosphere;
  • Schedule, implement and oversee field programs;
  • Mentor/supervise, delegate, and oversee the work of field technical staff;
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors including drillers, waste handling contractors, and construction contractors;
  • Ensure the program team is implementing BC's quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) process;
  • Support business development pursuits.
  • Some field work will be required and may include (but not necessarily limited to): collecting soil and water samples, overseeing drilling operations, borehole logging, well installation, and managing investigation derived waste.


Desired Skills and Experience:



  • B.S. in geology, engineering, or related discipline required;
  • Professional certifications in field (or ability to obtain within 6 months to a year) desired;
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional related experience;
  • Task or project management skills including attention to health and safety; program delivery strategy development and execution by collaborating with a team of project managers and staff; financial metrics tracking; and implementation of QA/QC;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and written report preparation;
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record are required;
  • Routine travel between offices, clients' locations and to project sites will be required;
  • The candidate should have the ability to successfully collaborate with BC's local, regional, and national practitioners as well as help mentor junior staff;
  • Project experience facilitating and working with regulators and clients on projects associated with site specific investigations, remediation;
  • Experience communicating with environmental regulatory agencies;
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills required;
  • Experience and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Knowledgeable in local and/or regional hydrogeology
  • Experience in the consulting field desired
  • 40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations (HAZWOPER) Certification required
  • Field assignments require ability to perform physically demanding work
  • Ability to work for short periods of time in extreme temperatures including heat and cold.
  • Ability to wear required safety equipment at sites including hard hats, steel toed boots (or other approved toe protection), safety glasses, etc.
  • Ability to stand for several hours observing and documenting field conditions and/or critical construction operations
  • Ability to safely walk around sites of varying size that may have areas of uneven, muddy, and/or rocky ground to perform inspections and take photographs
  • Ability to lift objects less than 30 pounds
  • Ability to remain alert and vigilant while working around construction equipment and be able to walk swiftly for a short distance to clear an area where a potential hazard is identified
  • Ability to climb stairs (2-3 flights) or ladders (up to 24 foot typically) to access structures for visual inspection


Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $72,000 - $98,000

Location B: $79,000 - $108,000

Location C: $87,000 - $118,000
