Job Description

The Department of Neurology is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Senior Research / Lab Technician to support innovative research in our neuroscience laboratory. Our research focuses on understanding the role of sleep disorders in neurological conditions such as addiction, PTSD, and stroke. This position provides essential support for laboratory experiments, including transgenic animal colony management, surgical preparation and assistance, and molecular and histological analyses. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, collaborative, and committed to advancing the research mission of the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and maintain transgenic animal colonies, including breeding, genotyping, and recordkeeping.
* Prepare for and assist with surgical procedures, ensuring compliance with laboratory protocols and animal welfare standards.
* Conduct molecular biology techniques and histological analyses, including tissue preparation, staining, and imaging.
* Maintain laboratory equipment, inventories, and supply ordering to ensure smooth daily operations.
* Collect, record, and analyze experimental data with accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ensure compliance with institutional, federal, and ethical regulations governing animal research and laboratory safety.
* Collaborate with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students to support ongoing and future projects.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $14.80 - $22.00
