The Clinical Pharmacy Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing programs and people that optimize the use of medications. Management and development of clinical pharmacists, pharmacy interns, medication patient assistance personnel, care coordination specialists, medical assistants and pharmacy support personnel are key responsibilities. The process is a dynamic one that ensures that people and systems coupled with medications are prescribed in an appropriate, safe, and cost-effective manner. The programs involve interaction with physicians, nurses, and other health care providers to provide information and education about the use of medications.

Supervision Exercised:

  • Hiring and onboarding of teammates and providers
  • Responsible for training of new staff and ongoing personnel training
  • Personnel management including development, performance review and corrective action planning
  • Contributes to a positive and engaging team culture as measured by employee experience scores

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops clinical pharmacist practices in ambulatory care sites including medication reconciliation, medication optimization (i.e. renal dosing, deprescribing, etc.), and disease state management (i.e. diabetes, heart failure, dyslipidemia, etc.)
  • Responsible for overseeing the professional development and implementation of clinical pharmacy programs as they apply to medication-related technologies, information systems, safe medication management practices, cost containment, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence activities
  • Manages members of the team, completes personnel management and development, and contributes to hiring in collaboration with the pharmacy directors and clinical leadership
  • Collaborates with the Director(s) of Pharmacy and clinic leadership to implement, evaluate and optimize national, regional, and local pharmacy & medication use initiatives which are pertinent to clinical pharmacy
  • Maintains and develops metrics and dashboards with key performance indicators to ensure optimal clinical pharmacy and medication outcomes. Leads process improvement work
  • Resource to staff and educate on medication management, quality and safety; represent pharmacy in multidisciplinary committees
  • Integrates patient specific, payer initiatives (5 Star, HEDIS, etc.) to improve quality medication metrics (i.e. medication adherence, high-risk medications in the elderly, etc.) into pharmacy team processes and oversee medication therapy management (MTM) services.
  • Coordinates pulling of data, organizing of work, and collaborating with leadership to execute on the strategic vision
  • Establishes priorities for the team to ensure task completion and operational success
  • Identifies and resolves operational challenges using defined processes, expertise, and judgment

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy
  • Registered pharmacist in the state of Washington
  • ASHP Pharmacy Practice Residency or Pharmacy Board Certification
  • 3+ years of clinical pharmacy experience in working ambulatory care experience with 1+ years of leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Epic or similar Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience

Typical Physical Demands:

  • Requires prolonged sitting
  • This position requires normal range of hearing and manual

Typical Working Conditions:

  • Fast-paced clinical office setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions
  • Involves frequent contact with staff, patients, and the public
  • Requires the ability to work under stressful conditions and occasionally work irregular hours
  • Flexibility of a hybrid role

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $110,200 to $188,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
