Quality Control Engineer Manager

SUMMARY
The Quality Control Engineer Manager will ensure that C.D. Smith Construction takes a proactive approach to establish, promote, and maintain an effective control system for compliance with the requirements established for all projects. This role will setforth the expectations for involvement from all entities on a C.D. Smith project and provide the resources necessary to meet the requirements established for the project.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provide Updates and Manage the Master C.D. Smith Quality Control Plan and Exterior Quality Control Plans.

Facilitate planning and development of Site-Specific Quality Control Plans and Exterior Quality Control Plans for all new projects.

Collaborates with representatives from various functional groups assigned to the projects including but not limited to Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, Foreman, Architects, Engineers, Owners, Third Party Inspection Agencies, Exterior Enclosure Consultants, Materials Testing Firms, and Subcontractors.

Research new technology and innovation for quality control best practices and documentation.

Work with the Project Teams to implement the following on our projects:

o Review Project Plans and Specifications to determine project requirements.

o Ensures contract compliance by reviewing and approving quality requirements.

o Coordinate with Materials Testing Agencies on Required Inspections and Timing.

o Engage Exterior Enclosure Consultants

o Review of Architectural Enclosure Details

o Review the Exterior Enclosure Responsibility Matrix and Color-Coded Detail markups during bid phase

o Lead and Facilitate a Project Requirement Meeting, Trade Contractor Kickoff Meeting, Submittal Party, Pre-Installation Meetings, Exterior Enclosure Kickoff & Coordination meetings.

o Coordinate and Plan Preconstruction Mockups and In Place Mockups.

o Train internal C.D. Smith employees on proper documentation and archiving of QualityControl Documents.

o Conduct and Train Internal C.D. Smith Employees on 1stDelivery Inspections, Subgrade Turnover Inspections, Pre-Pour Inspections, Pre-Fireproofing Inspections, First Equipment In-Place Inspections, Benchmark Inspections, In-Place Enclosure Testing, Pre-Finish Inspections, Closure Inspections, Activation Inspections, Startup Inspections, Punch List, and Final Acceptance.

o Review Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Testing Procedures and documentation.

o Review Field Report Observations from Architects, Engineers, and Consultants. Ensure that proper documentation and sign offs are getting completed.

o Ensure that our American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) certification surveys, tolerances, tracking field installation inspection guide, welding procedures, audits, sequence turnover process, and closeout process is getting completed.

o Coordinate Tolerances between each trade.

o Create Project Specific Method Statements to achieve specified Construction Tolerances.

o Review Required Surveys to meet tolerances for foundation control, column shortening, core wall drift and settlement, structural frame alignment, slab deflection, slab edge monitoring, vertical and horizontal alignment requirements, cross sectional dimension of concrete elements including thickness, levelness, and flatness.

o Identifies the root cause of quality problems, and coordinates modifications or other corrective actions.

o Document / Present Lessons Learned at Monthly Superintendent and Project Management Meetings to create awareness to all C.D. Smith Jobs.

o Offers technical guidance and support in response to quality testing and analysis.

Create Inspection Checklists for Teams to Reference during their quality walks.

Performs other duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering Field with at least five years of related experience, required; OR associate's degree with related coursework plus a certified quality engineer certificate required.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Thorough understanding of Architecture, Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems.

Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn the company's quality control system.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite related software, Revisto, Bluebeam, Procore and/or Autodesk.

Ability to travel to project work sites during the work week.
