POSITION SPECIFICS

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics in Hershey, PA is seeking a highly qualified individual for a non-tenure-line position at the rank of Researcher or Assistant Research Professor. This position will be filled as an Assistant Professor or Researcher based on job experience and qualifications.

Candidates who seek to be hired as a Researcher will be expected to have a PhD in Biochemisitry, Molecular Biology or a related field and will be expected to conduct basic and translational cancer research with a focus on biochemistry, molecular biology, and preclinical therapeutic studies. Additional responsibilities are as follows:

  • Conduct laboratory research in accordance with institutional and federal regulations.

  • Develop new research ideas and collaborations.

  • Assist the PI with grant and manuscript preparation.

  • Participate in teaching and training of students, fellows, and technicians.

The successful candidate should also have a strong background in signal transduction, preclinical therapeutic studies, and flow cytometry analysis. As well as, a demonstrated excellent scientific productivity, strong writing and communication skills, and the ability to conduct research independently and in team settings.

Candidates who seek to be hired as a Assistant Professor will be expected to have a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in a relevant field and will be expected to lead an independent research program in basic and translational cancer research, contributing to the academic mission through research, teaching, and service. Additional responsibilities are as follows:

  • Develop and maintain an externally funded independent research program.

  • Collaborate with other investigators and participate in interdisciplinary research initiatives.

  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in research.

  • Contribute to departmental and institutional service.

The successful candidate should also have postdoctoral training with a demonstrated track record of productivity in cancer research, evidence of potential to secure extramural funding and experience or interest in teaching and mentoring.
