Responsibilities Essential Functions: Supervise the front office and medical records personnel. Coordinate the check-in process, telephone reception, scheduling of appointments, check-out, collection of co-insurance and co-pays, insurance benefit verification, managed care, compliance, etc Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining front office systems for efficiency and productivity Check-in patients (i.e., make copy of new patient insurance cards, have new patient complete information sheet, have established patients review demographic forms for changes, and verify that all forms are filled out completely) Maintain all physician/diagnostic-testing schedules following office scheduling policies as well as training for scheduling Back-up telephone reception. Oversee the transfer of phones to after hour's answering service at the end of the day. Follow up on messages after phones are turned back on Take messages regarding patient/pharmacy calls requesting prescription refills, forwarding them to the appropriate personnel Responsible for preparing and printing daily appointment schedules and superbills, distributing to appropriate location Knowledgeable in scheduling in the OR as well as the Cath Lab Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years of work experience in the medical front office setting; Two (2) plus years of supervisory experience preferred; Multi-phone system; Knowledge of medical setting; Computer experience - Scheduling experience preferred. Working Knowledge: Medical terminology and medical insurance knowledge preferred. Knowledge of Cerner scheduling system and the PCIS Gold Practice Management System.
