GENERAL FUNCTION: Key leadership position responsible for all product and portfolio strategies to drive revenue growth and profit across the Bancorp for the assigned Bankcard HSA line of business (Credit Card, Debit/Prepaid, HSA). Position will have overall responsibility for achieving the annual line of business profit plan. Develops long-term strategic growth plans focusing on customers, competition, profitability, risk management, product life cycle, and service considerations. Leads product price setting and works closely with business partners in developing enhancements, new product concepts, and bringing innovation to market. Coordinates the activities of all corporate areas necessary to bring the product to market, develops financial operating plans, projects profit and loss, and is charged with achieving annual sales objectives for assigned products or areas. Manage staff responsible for executing the key line of business growth strategies. Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Exercise direct supervision of assigned product, portfolio, marketing, sales and analytic managers. Work across the Fifth Third organizational matrix with key business partners in risk, credit, operations, collections and retail.
  • Manage the line of business P&L and the associated products. Provide guidance to Finance for analysis of historical financial reporting, projections of financial results for future periods and annual budgeting.
  • Establish annual goals and objectives for key line of business deliverables.
  • Manage the implementation of new products and/or product enhancements and functionalities.
  • Develop and maintain product strategies and the business strategic plan.
  • Oversee pricing, profitability and strategy models used to generate the portfolio performance.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers, internal business partners and key vendors as necessary.
  • Effectively manage cross-functional teams on complex issues related to development, implementation, and ongoing servicing.
  • Research competitor practices and pricing to ensure that products are competitive in features and pricing and that quality service is being provided.
  • Lead pricing committees as appropriate.
  • Monitor industry trends and perform essential market research and analysis to define current and prospective customer needs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for providing employees timely, candid and constructive performance feedback; developing employees to their fullest potential and provide challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth; developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLSAND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree. MBA or other Advanced degree is preferred.
  • 20 or more years of relevant industry experience.
  • In-depth understanding of product features, benefits, pricing, positioning, design and advertising.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have ability to effectively manage credit risk/return trade-offs to optimize profitability.
  • Requires excellent organizational skills, quantitative skills, strong interpersonal communication skills and analytic expertise.
  • Work requires experience and ability to influence and negotiate with individuals outside span of control and the associated decision making.
