The Senior Director of Learning & Development (L&D) sets the vision and leads the strategy, design, and execution of enterprise-wide learning, talent, and organizational development initiatives. This role drives leadership development, professional and technical skill-building, succession planning, and the creation of a thriving learning culture across the organization. The Sr. Director partners with senior leaders and business units to align talent development, career growth, and workforce planning with enterprise goals. They oversee the design and delivery of corporate training programs, leadership pipelines, and high-potential (HiPo) initiatives that enhance Team Member engagement and strengthen bench strength for critical roles. Success in this role will be demonstrated by a robust leadership pipeline, measurable skill development, increased Team Member engagement and retention, and the growth of a future-ready workforce that supports long-term business success.

Key Responsibilities



  • Set and execute the enterprise L&D strategy to develop talent, strengthen leadership capabilities, and drive organizational growth.
  • Lead organizational learning and development programs across diverse business units, including professional development, technical training, and leadership programs.
  • Oversee succession planning and leadership pipeline development, including high-potential (HiPo) programs and executive development initiatives.
  • Manage scalable learning solutions for all levels-frontline, professional, and leadership-covering corporate training, content design, LMS management, and vendor partnerships.
  • Develop career pathways and internal mobility strategies to increase Team Member retention and accelerate growth opportunities.
  • Partner with business leaders to assess organizational capability gaps, delivering tailored, high-impact learning and development solutions.
  • Leverage analytics and success metrics to evaluate program effectiveness and continuously improve learning and talent initiatives.
  • Integrate L&D strategies with core HR programs such as onboarding, performance management, engagement, and workforce planning.
  • Champion a culture of continuous learning, curiosity, and innovation, ensuring the organization remains agile and future-ready.
  • Optimize budgets, vendor relationships, and resources to maximize ROI on learning investments.
  • Serve as the enterprise expert on talent assessment tools, including Birkman, Predictive Index, and Working Genius, to inform development and placement decisions.



Experience & Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field; Master's degree or relevant certifications preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in learning & development, talent management, or organizational effectiveness, including leading enterprise-level strategies in complex organizations.
  • Proven success in designing and executing enterprise learning and talent initiatives that drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and program evaluation; experience scaling learning programs for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS), with Docebo strongly preferred, as well as talent assessment tools and analytics for measuring program impact.
  • Birkman certification strongly preferred, with demonstrated experience in leveraging assessment tools to design leadership and talent development programs.
  • Experience operating in matrixed, decentralized, or multi-business environments, successfully influencing across functions and levels.
  • Exceptional skills in executive communication, presentation, and facilitation, with the ability to influence and engage senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to developing people, building high-performing teams, and fostering a learning culture.
  • Strong ability to partner across the organization, deliver excellent internal customer service, and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort using data and technology to support decision-making.



WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This job operates in a physical office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. Travel up to 30% to visit locations, attend conferences, and deliver programs. The team member is frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands, arms and fingers to handle and lift objects up to 20 pounds.
