Job Description

Position Summary:

The Second Shift Operations Supervisor provides leadership and supervision to direct labor employees involved in the manufacturing of fasteners in our Langhorne Facility. This position will be responsible for running the facility independently during second shift hours, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency standards are met. The Supervisor will manage personnel, equipment, and materials to meet production schedules and customer demands in a cost-effective manner.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Enforce all company safety regulations, including the use of PPE and maintenance of a safe work environment.
  • Independently manage second shift operations and serve as the highest authority on-site during those hours.
  • Lead, coach, and hold team members accountable to performance and behavioral expectations.
  • Manage employee schedules, assign daily tasks, and ensure adequate staffing for shift goals.
  • Monitor production metrics (productivity, scrap, on-time delivery, etc.) and drive improvement using lean principles.
  • Conduct daily shift startup meetings and communicate priorities and expectations clearly to the team.
  • Update the Daily Management Board, Dispatch List, RYG Report, and other shift reports.
  • Identify capacity constraints and work with Production Control to resolve.
  • Maintain accurate records of labor, production, downtime, and material usage.
  • Investigate and address production issues, safety incidents, and quality concerns.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance tasks are performed and coordinate with Maintenance as needed.
  • Support employee development through training in safety, quality, and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, corrective actions, and coaching discussions with direct reports.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas according to 6S and visual management standards.
  • Communicate key issues to day shift leadership and ensure proper handoffs at shift change.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 3-5 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment (aerospace or fasteners preferred).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, safety regulations, and lean manufacturing tools.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, especially in fast-paced environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate teams with minimal oversight.
  • Comfortable using ERP systems and productivity tools like Excel and production dashboards.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting technical drawings and work instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
