Job Description

Seeking a hands-on and results-driven Production Manager to lead our electrical panel assembly shop, overseeing daily production operations, workforce management, and quality execution. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in automated machine electrical and control assembly, a commitment to continuous improvement, and proven leadership experience in a custom or low-volume/high-mix production environment.

What You Will Do:

Responsibilities


  • Lead and supervise production teams building custom electrical control panels or related assemblies.

  • Plan and schedule production orders based on capacity, delivery dates, and available materials.

  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards and internal quality specifications.

  • Monitor key production metrics including throughput, on-time delivery, first-pass yield, labor utilization, and avoid / minimize rework.

  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Purchasing, Production Control and Quality to resolve build issues and drive improvements.

  • Drive 5S, lean practices, and layout optimization to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Coach and develop team members; promote a Safe, accountable, and high-performance culture.

  • Oversee accurate documentation of build records, test results, and change notices.

  • Participate in regulatory inspections (UL, OSHA, etc.) or audits as required.

  • Maintain tooling, equipment, and shop floor readiness to meet production and quality goals.

  • Lead and ensure safety compliance in the assigned area and in accordance with company requirements and best practices

  • Assists with Capital Expenditure planning to improve safety and operational efficiencies.


Leadership Responsibilities:


  • This role requires daily interaction in a production floor environment. A successful leader in this role will work closely with all employees on the production floor.

  • The leader will need the necessary skills to lead the team through tight deadlines, evolving customer needs, and custom job variability.

  • Responsible for the professional development of team members, play a key role to guide, coach, and provide constructive feedback to support team members to reach their full potential. Create a supportive and inclusive work environment that encourages collaboration, respect for diverse perspectives, and empower team members to excel in their roles.


Qualifications


  • Associate or bachelor's degree in electrical technology, Industrial Management, or related field.

  • 2+ years in a supervisory or management role.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, panel layout drawings, and BOMs.

  • Familiarity with UL standards and panel testing practices.

  • Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office.

  • Experience with lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement initiatives.

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical panel assembly or industrial electrical manufacturing preferred.


  • Exposure to AutoCAD, EPLAN, or SolidWorks Electrical preferred.

Physical Demands
This role is primarily performed in an office environment where a computer, telephone and other office equipment are used as needed to perform the duties of the role. As part of the essential functions of this role, the individual will need to access a factory and be exposed to temperature changes. This may will result in being exposed to noise, vibration, chemicals/fumes and navigate around factory machines.
