Job Description:

Perkins Coie LLP is seeking a talentedSenior Manager of Performance Analyticsto join our Finance team. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the vision, direction, and delivery of the firm's performance analytics function at the enterprise level.

As Senior Manager of Performance Analytics, you will lead a dedicated team in delivering data-driven insights that inform critical decisions around lawyer evaluation, promotion, and compensation. You will play a pivotal role in connecting performance data to profitability and advancing the firm's long-term strategic goals.

Serving as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and the partnership, you will utilize best-in-class communication skills to translate complex analytics into actionable strategies. As a champion of analytics excellence, you will foster a high-performance culture, invest in talent and succession planning, and build organizational capabilities that drive optimal decision-making and sustain our competitive advantage.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation.

  • Work closely with the firm's partner compensation and executive committees to facilitate partner compensation and related processes. Duties include coordinating meetings and training sessions, producing analytic data used in decision-making, coordinating necessary adjustments to existing data, conducting ad-hoc analyses, presenting results to firm leadership, communicating compensation results to partners and working directly with impacted partners to assist understanding of process, decisions and results.
  • Design and maintain firmwide performance metrics and the analytic framework for lawyers at all levels.
  • Lead the strategic design, evolution, and governance of the firm's performance analytics architecture - including leading ongoing efforts to update and modernize our existing suite of programs. This role will be responsible for understanding the end-to-end functionality of all performance analytics systems, even if the technology team maintains the products.
  • Communicate clearly with firm leadership, committee members, and the partnership to deliver critical messaging.
  • Educate new leaders and committee members on the usage of the programs that determine the compensation processes.
  • Create a culture of process improvement: identifying opportunities for simplification; encouraging new thoughts and ideas from inside and outside the performance analytics organization; leading efforts around process and organizational changes.
  • Collaborate across analytic functions to create best-in-class performance analytics reporting.
  • Lead development of robust modeling and scenario analysis to support annual compensation and promotion cycles.
  • Develop and manage multi-level talent strategies, including succession planning, coaching of subordinate talent, and organizational design to support the firm's future needs.
  • Must be willing to travel as required.

SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Strong analytical and financial modeling abilities with demonstrated capacity to translate data into strategic insights.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and executive presence. Clear and obvious comfort working with, and presenting to, senior firm leaders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage difficult conversations with candor and discretion.
  • Demonstrated success managing geographically dispersed teams and subordinate talent; skilled in organizational design, change management, and the orchestration of complex, multi-year analytics strategies.
  • Superior business acumen, strategic planning and critical thinking skills, with proven ability to interpret complex business challenges and shape organizational priorities accordingly.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and market awareness, with the ability to translate emerging data trends into organizational priorities.

SPECIFIC SKILLS PREFERRED

  • Familiarity with partnership structures and law firm evaluation and compensation processes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Seven or more years of experience working in performance analytics in a professional services environment.
  • Five or more years of management experience including oversight of critical and complex functions.
  • Master's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent mix of training and experience.
  • Experience with AmLaw 100 law firms strongly preferred.

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) plan, medical, dental, and vision insurance, accrued paid time off plan starting at 20 days annually, personal medical and parental leave, up to 10 paid holidays, and family care benefits. This position may be filled in the following location(s). The listed compensation range reflects the typical pay for this role, though it is rare for new hires to receive an offer at the top of the range. Actual compensation may vary depending on experience, skills, market conditions, and internal equity.

Washington state compensation range: $141,750 to $224,110 annually
