This role ensures safe, efficient, and operable project execution aligned with Worley's purpose of delivering a more sustainable world.

The individual in this role will provide strategic leadership across site operations, influence policy enhancements, and ensure alignment between design, execution, and sustainability goals. This is a site-based role integral to the lifecycle of our global projects, ensuring operational excellence from start-up through to full-scale facility operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all start-up and facility operations activities at project sites to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective performance.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to review project designs and recommend changes that enhance operational safety, sustainability, and efficiency.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that support operational excellence and sustainable outcomes.

  • Engage in strategic decision-making related to project execution, identifying innovative solutions grounded in field experience and corporate practices.

  • Represent start-up and operational interests in design reviews, providing insight that ensures long-term functionality and maintainability of assets.

  • Foster a culture of safety, inclusion, and collaboration across all site-based functions.

  • Actively participate in cross-functional coordination and align site activities with broader project and corporate objectives.

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, presenting proposals, updates, and performance reports to senior leadership and client representatives.

  • Monitor, assess, and continuously improve the application of systems, tools, and field processes to enhance productivity and project outcomes.

  • Mentor and support the development of team members, nurturing future leaders and subject matter experts in line with Worley's values.

Qualifications / Skillset

  • University degree in engineering, operations management, or a related field; alternatively, a trade qualification with extensive relevant training and experience.

  • Demonstrated site-based experience in leading start-up and operational activities on medium-scale industrial projects in the energy, chemicals, or resources sectors.

  • Extensive knowledge of start-up protocols, facility operations, safety practices, and commissioning workflows.

  • Proven leadership experience, including the ability to guide diverse teams, drive performance, and align with sustainability-driven business objectives.

  • Strong ability to interpret project designs and influence constructability, operability, and maintainability through practical input and collaboration.

  • Advanced understanding of project execution frameworks, field engineering, and construction site operations.

  • Skilled in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, developing effective solutions, and implementing change in complex environments.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and manage stakeholder relationships effectively.

  • High proficiency in the use and application of digital tools, systems, and processes supporting project execution, field operations, and performance tracking.
