The Sr. Electrical Engineer is responsible for defining and executing engineering tasks for assigned projects to support the needs of clients and project managers to maximize sales and profits.
Essential Functions

  1. Design, develop and prototype electronic hardware as defined by customer requirements and in-house production needs.
  2. Conceptualize design requirements from blueprints, sketches or verbal instructions to design and develop new products or to improve existing products as directed by Design Engineering Manager.
  3. Create and maintain vendor and contractor relationships to help ensure projects meet client expectations.
  4. Simulate critical portions of any design to verify that it will function as required.
  5. Create the schematics, PCB layouts, cable drawings, bills of materials and any other documentation needed to produce the design.
  6. Collaborate with mechanical engineers to make sure any boards, cables, etc. will fit into the required space and that external controls, connectors, etc. are positioned according to the mechanical design requirements.
  7. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, as needed, to make sure circuit board and cable assemblies are designed for manufacturability.
  8. Collaborate with production as needed to build prototype hardware. This includes requisitioning all parts and equipment needed to produce the prototype hardware and assisting with assembly and test procedures, etc.
  9. Create or modify software to make the hardware function properly, as required.
  10. Create test and verification plans to assure that the hardware operates as defined by the customer requirements.
  11. Test and verify prototype hardware, fixing any problems as needed.
  12. Verify the design with the customer at prescribed development stages.
  13. Apply knowledge of company products and services to help provide quality customer service.
  14. Review and resolve customer complaints in a professional and timely manner as required.
  15. Maintain relationships with key and critical customers.
  16. Log all time worked on billable and non-billable projects as required by the Design Engineering processes.
  17. Create and maintain project files as required by the Design Engineering processes.
  18. Ensure work area is kept clean and free of debris.
  19. Adhere to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
  20. Adhere to the company's ISO Quality Management System.
  21. Coach and mentor junior Engineers or Interns.
  22. Perform other related duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibility
This position has limited supervisory responsibilities. This position may coach and mentor junior Engineers or Interns.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Some of the work will require exposure to working near moving mechanical parts and caustic fumes or airborne particles on the production floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, use fine hand motor skills/dexterity, use repetitive motions, and lift and/or move up to 15 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Required Education and Experience


  1. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  2. 10+ years of experience with PCB Design and Layout, Circuit Design, Firmware, and Troubleshooting.
  3. Proven Project Management experience.
  4. Altium PCB Design and Layout Software or similar.
  5. Working proficiency and knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.


Preferred Education and Experience


  1. Power Supply or Power Electronics experience.
  2. Bluetooth experience.
  3. Python experience.
  4. Test fixture development experience.
