Description

Brown and Caldwell (BC) is current seeking a Drinking Water National Technology and Innovation Leader (NTIL) to drive the strategic direction and pace of the Drinking Water Practice's Research and Innovation portfolio. This position will work with the Drinking Water National Practice Leader (NPL) and the Research and Innovation Director to create differentiators for BC that support growth initiatives of the Practice and Business Units.

This position will also be responsible for developing talent and partnering with technical organizations/universities and technology developers that can help position BC as a leader in technical innovation.

Remote work from within the United States is allowed.

What you will do:

Innovation Leadership



  • Strategize: Define and lead the practice's innovation strategy by aligning the research and innovation portfolio with organizational goals, sourcing ideas from and collaborating with key stakeholders, and leveraging market trends to drive impactful solutions.
  • Develop: Shape the research and innovation portfolio and technical strategy through collaboration, guide technical resources, lead innovations through the evaluation process, manage/protect IP, and monitor/adapt strategy alignment. Mentor staff in research and innovation as future investigators.
  • Deploy: Support strategic growth and drive adoption through strategic partnerships, client engagement, and internal stakeholder outreach. Lead technical teams in testing and delivering innovation. Build technical depth within the practice to support innovation.
  • Lead: Drive representation and recognition of BCs innovation brand through thought leadership, active participation in conferences, workshops, and forums, and high visibility/value communications.
  • Deliver: Participate in projects and pursuits as a subject matter expert in your areas of expertise. Develop BC standards and enforce BC quality fundamentals. Mentor staff aligned with the Practice.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • M.S. in Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the drinking water industry.
  • Experience on at least three research and/or innovation projects across your career.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational development skills, with a demonstrated ability to motivate in a team-oriented and collaborative work environment, and foster balance and belonging in the workforce.
  • Ability to review and communicate a broad range of scientific literature.
  • Proven success in technical presentation, proposal writing, and public presentations.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to listen with intention, communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally (verbal and written) for technical and non-technical audiences.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • PHD in Engineering, Science, or a related field.
  • Professional registration.
  • Demonstrated and widely recognized technical leadership through research, peer-reviewed publications, innovation, professional society leadership, and contribution to industry standards.


Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $145,000 - $199,000

Location B: $160,000 - $219,000

Location C: $174,000 - $238,000
